sb413197 | Thanks for the suggestions. I had experimented with the memory issue and with sound related stuff -- what worked in the end was running it on a lower video resolution (running at 640x480). Weird that that worked but it stopped freezing entirely. Thanks again. |

Are you using Dynamic Core mode? Try disabling it. What sound sampling rate is configured? Lower it to 22050 if it is higher than that. Is the game's sound setup configured with the same values you have in DosBox.conf for adress, IRQ and DMA? Is the selected soundcard of the same type that is emulated? How much memory is configured? Try running the game with less emulated RAM. Last but not least, try running the game with disabled sound. Another thing you might want to check is if these crashes also occur under VDMSound. |

sb413197 | Hmmm still freezing even after not using the frontend and lowering the cycles to 40,000. I wonder what's causing it. |

The Fifth Horseman | Try running without that "game launcher" frontend. AFAIK, frontends can sometimes cause things like what you described. |

sb413197 | I have just started playing abandonware games using DOSBox and I am playing magic carpet 2. It usually works but about once every couple hours the game crashes and in the DOSBox screen it cycles through errors that look like "Illegal Write to ....X00034..." etc over and over again at great speed. I am using the "dosbox game launcher" version 0.45 to run it. Has anyone run into this problem before and/or have a way to fix it? |
