Update to anyone reading in 2012

Played this game to death in the 90's, enjoyed it immensly. As you will see from the manual this games ane manual is a work of love from real wargames fans, the detail in the database of units is outstanding, this game was the gateway for me to playing other major classics such as Sid Meyers Gettysberg and Antietam (still play to this day), all the Microsoft close combat series 1-5 and obviously the entire Total war series (ShogunTW,Shogun TW Mongol Inv, MedievalTW, MedievalTW Viking Inv, Rome TW, Rome TW Barbarian Inv, RTW Alexander, Medieval2TW, Medieval2TW Kingdoms, Empire TW, Napoleon TW, Peninsular campaign add on, Shogun2 TW (least favourite of all games listed)
I also play operation Vulcan (on a spectrum emulator) another very well implemented wargame from the 80's

All have their qualities and all highly enjoyable and had them all working apart from FOG. Recently installed De-fend /DOSBOX and my old FOG install works great ! Still got save games from 90's.

So got FOG running under De-fend / DosBOX on Windows Vista Business 64, intel i7 920, 6gb Ram, nVidia GF 260, all works without hiccup

Right off to kick Bonys ass at Wavre now

Fields of Glory

The game seems to be way too easy. I won the battle of Waterloo on the Napoleonic side and I assure you I am NOT that good. There are a lot of complexities poorly modeled, such as the variable effectiveness of the field commanders. If you recall, Napoleon lost Waterloo in great part because his field commanders were not able to carry his orders appropriately.
Fun simulation none than less and not bad for the ego either

The Fifth Horseman Use DOSBox. There's a stickied tutorial in the Troubleshooting forum that'll help you get started.

Guest_Will_* I got the game for my 9th birthday. I am now 17. I really want to play it again as i am studying the Napoleonic Wars at the moment, and it is a really fun strategic game! However, on the installation it says i need 'files/buffers: 20/20' and i have files/buffers: 40/0, and wont install. Also, i have windows XP.

PLEASE HELP! I WILL BE SO GRATEFUL!
