If you can't raise the cycles high enough, you probably don't have a computer fast enough. I always recommended at least 1 gigahertz computer (1000 megahertz) for DOSBox. As for the into, I never seen something else than the "screenshot slideshow" you mentioned. My best guess would be that it's a feature which come from the CD, not from the "normal" game. Perhaps it's because DOSBox see the cdrom as a CD which is too slow not to get choppy animations and sounds when it try to read it from there. |

Okay, so I found the problem: you cannot type terror.bat to run, you must use terrorcd.bat or it won't run. But I still have a problem: The game is very jerky. I up the cycles and the game runs faster, but even though this helps the jerkiness a little, it doesn't get rid of it; WORSE, the sound/music slows down and gets choppy! Additionally, without the sound/music engaged, I can watch the opening scene of the game as it was intended: an introductory movie! WITH SOUND/MUSIC, the intro becomes nothing but a slideshow of screenshots with subtitles telling the story. What is this? How do I fix them (I'm mainly concerned with the sound)? |

Don't the sound setup give you the default settings? Default settings should work fine. Also, did you try to raise the cycles? Maybe it's not frozen but simply take a lot of time to get up to the screen because the cycles are too low. |

I downloaded dosbox and xcom: terror from the deep. However, when i initialize dosbox, it says "sound initialisation" and, no matter the sound settings (from soundblaster and adlib to no sound and no music) the blinking cursor blinks on permanently and the box freezes. The mouse still moves, but the game won't run and dosbox freezes up. Is this due to a dosbox error or a sound error? regarding sound, I don't know what channel or those other numbers to use. It askes me for an IRQ, and I say 5 (should I?) but then on those other numbers (like 210, 220, etc.) and DVM, i think its called (the next sound option after IRQ that has number choices of 1 or 3 etc.)) I have no clue. Can anyone help me out here? Preciate it! PS I will check back often, so if you leave a reply, i'll test it out and get back to you; if you have a question, i'll answer it asap. Thanx again! |
