Eagle of Fire | What is your computer specs. I am guessing here that your computer is not fast enough to manage to run DOSBox efficiently at 8000 cycles. |

guesst | I have the problem with an upcomming abandonia feature - "Archon Ultra". You MUST set the cycles to 8000 or the game won't run, but then the sound stutters more than porky pig, which is too back because the music is actually awesome. (They sould like Star Control 2 left-overs, but in a good way.) When this game gets featured if anyone can fix this I'm sure there will be much rejoicing. |

I had a similar problem every time I set the cycles too high. The game would run fine, but the sound began to stutter. Then, when I turned the cycles back down, the sound was fixed, but the game was running slow. Here's what solved the problem for me: Open up the dosbox.conf file of your DOSBox and change "core" under "cpu" to "dynamic" Code:
[cpu] # core -- CPU Core used in emulation: simple, normal, full, dynamic. # cycles -- Amount of instructions dosbox tries to emulate each millisecond. # * * * * * Setting this higher than your machine can handle is bad! # cycleup * -- Amount of cycles to increase/decrease with keycombo. # cycledown * *Setting it lower than 100 will be a percentage. core=dynamic cycles=3000 cycleup=500 cycledown=500 I hope I could help. |
