Mmm.. I don't like the inline ads as I have a tendency to constantly hover with my mouse and select the text Im reading', so I get pretty annoyed with the popups The ads we have now are perfect. I don't want Abandonia to end up like a blinking, flashy advertisment hell like HOTU. Next think you know we'll have popups as well :not_ok: |

Alrighty, I see the general response to intext ads is that they are an annoyance.... Well, I was curious, but I guess we'll stay away from them for the time being |

I´m not sure what that site does different. I suspect the hotlinking should stop after clicking a link, but it simply doesn´t for me. Even after refreshing they come back after a couple of seconds :P And if the question is about intrusiveness, putting such obvious ads in the texts people always look at is certainly a lot more intrusive then having the ads in a seperate section. Having to click a link each time to clear them out doesn't really help, imho. In fact, it even draws a lot of attention to them. The bad kind; it might make people feel forced to click them. That said I personally don't mind the hotlinked text. It makes the text look a bit messy, and it might interfere with the cool hotlinked games I just noticed (:P), but personally I would be able to live with that if necessary. Those tool-tips are godawfull, though |

Danny252 | I really can't stand inline ads. They're incredibly obtrustive and interrupt you reading. I usually avoid sites with these as they always get in the way and disrupt you. | |

What if they closed automatically like on softpedia: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Down...d-Manager.shtml In this case users can disable the inline advertisments if they want to simply by clicking a link! |
