Japo | You've got to cheat the game into believing that the CD is in. Depending on the files you've got, either mount a CD image in the new fashion, or use some crack like FAKECD in the old one.

You could buy Command & Conquer, The First Decade. It's a pack with ALL the current C&C Games including expansions and Renegade up to C&C Generals. Everything works fine in WinXP. |

I've run C&C on XP with no problems, so might be able to help you with Red Alert... had it a while ago and it ran under XP with no problems as well. |

chainsoar | OK, here's what I did - I downloaded it, unpacked it and tried to install it. It gave me an error message about the wrong version of windows so I changed the compatibility mode. Now I get a message saying "unable to locate necessary files. Please run setup.exe from the CD-Rom disc" whenever I run setup.exe. Please help me.

Eagle of Fire | C&C is a DOS game, so you need either to use the Win95 compatibility mode (I remember there is an icon for Win95, so it should be compatible with a little luck) or play the game in plain DOS using a Bootdisk or DOSBox. If you are lucky, maybe using VDMSound could be enough if the problem only originate from the soundcard.
