The Fifth Horseman Properties -> compatibility modes. Set it up for Win95, 640x480 and 256 colors.

As for saving, manually create directories names GAME_1 through GAME_10. Will work then.

Azurio Oh, I got it to work in Windows! However, there is another problem.

Everytime I go on a mission, and I mean *every* time, I get this error.

And for some reason, my files would not save.

*sigh*

Here. He means a flat monitor as opposed to old -but cheaper and still used-, bulky ones based on a cathode-ray tube.

You could download the DOS version and use DOSBox.

For some reason, the Dos version doesn't work. I get a funny message everytime I try loading it.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Azurio Hi, I've recently obtained the version of X-Com from the site and all the system specs seem to check out. I downloaded the Windows XP version but when I open up the file, the game plays but the menu and the entire game screen is just blurred, cut off and spread across my monitor so I cannot even understand what is on my screen or how to get out of it.

I haven't found any FAQ about this problem so was hoping that someone on here could help out.

Thanks.
