Try disabling EMS and XMS. You can do it permnamently by editing dosbox.conf or temporarily, using a batch file I wrote to change the memory settings from inside DOSBox without having to quit the program. Here: http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/att...4&d=1209413074 |

I had errors similar to yours when I was playing through the game. Specifically, the game would claim to have lost the cursor or would simply boot me to dos. Most of these occurred when I activated certain plot/conversation points before the game was ready for them. I humbly suggest either reloading and replaying an old savegame (annoying) or reading up on sum Dosbox.conf http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Dosbox.conf (Suggestions better than mine are welcomed.) |

If you've played through this game and find yourself wanting more, go to amazon and pick up a copy of Jordan Mechner's "The Last Express." Historical fiction featuring WWI and the fall of the Romanov Dynasty. Standard point and click adventure interface, EXTREMELY touchy time mechanics, excellent stop-motion and regular video sequences. (All video is illustrated, similar to A Scanner Darkly.) Time Mechanics: The plot is mostly linear with a few definite endings. Nearly all events can be missed. If you realize you've missed an event, you can bring up a window that features a Fabrege clock. Rewind the clock hands to the last major plot point and you can try it again. (All the way back to Paris, if you wish...) Also, the 'live' violin music is not to be missed! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Express (WHAT??? Largest commercial failure ever??? **) |

Talkie |
I rewrote this message with new information: There was a confusing rumor that a cd-rom talkie version existed of this game. Many people would claim that they searched the cd-rom talkie, either in french or english, and never found it. The only ever cd-rom version of this that ever came out was a budget Kixx LX direct port of the disk version, added with tons of demos and mini-games. And also a later compilation cd by Delphine. But it turns out that the Amiga version apparently featured some digitized speech in places, the confusion being that this release exists only in disket format. Because the PC people and Amiga people don't always meet together, the PC people got confused for a long time about this topic. Cheers, Talkie (ironically) |

Hi all. Can someone please help me? Have been playing the game for 2 days now, but can't get beyond a certain scene. It keeps crashing after Rebecca says "pssst" and calls Inspector into her cabin. During their conversation, where she's telling him about Rose, it says OUT OF MEMORY - SEE READ.ME (and I don't have a read.me). Can't get it working. Rest of game is working fine. Please help! Thanks. |
