Mortimer Well I didn't get an EMS error after trying those, but the game comes up completely as a blank screen (yet I hear the theme tune going slowly when run with VMS).

Data go to your bios and disable usb support. (and networkcard support)

this might give you ems under XP.

Mortimer I just pulled out my old Iron Assault CD to give it a spin, yet under Windows XP this time.

When I run it in normal windows it says no EMS Manager found, I set EMS and all other memory types to auto and even set them to the max available in the drop down box. I have the 'Use HMA' box ticked as well ... I've run under both pure windows and the command prompt and still get the EMS error.

Under Dosbox I can watch the intro (though sound cuts out a few seconds in) and explore the base, but as soon as I start a mission the screen is completely blank ... I can hear the music (and the 'Dropping you off' voice) but nothing else gains a response, using the keys doesn't result in a moving or shooting sound.

Anyone got any ideas?
