I don’t know exactly, but it seems to me that all problems are related to incorrect exit. It’s impossible to exit the game correctly. Esc must work, but it does’t work. You can exit by pressing Alt+Esc, but actually it’s not exit, but abnormal termination of dosbox running. Pirates! runs well in Windows XP too, although only PC-speaker is available. And Esc doesn’t work too. You must use Alt+Ctrl+Delete. I don’t know, maybe it’s only my computer’s problem. Can somebody else tell something about it please? Quote:

else consider informing the dosbox people about it. They don't like games being broken and they like even less people telling other people to use ancient versions |

The Fifth Horseman | You might try running it on Normal core, with GUS and MPU-401 emulation disabled. These things help with some games, might work here also.

Elena | You have to use dosbox 0.63, Pirates! doesn’t like new dosbox versions. But I had problems in dosbox 0.63 too. After a time the game began to glitch badly.

Pirates! Problems! Yes. Ok. Yep. Um. I downloaded Pirates! Without problems, extracted it, opened it, etc, and then after I duel the captain and win, and enter my first town, nothing happens, it just tells me the stats of the town and sits there, no picture or anything.. Im using EGA graphics so that could also be part of the problem.... |
