"This program cannot be run in DOS mode." is the standard error message a Windows program gives when you're trying to run it in DOS.

Run the game in Windows - it should do just fine.

_r.u.s.s. coldazdar have you actually tried running it in windows?

maybe you have some kind of preconfigured win version?

Data you should buy the game from 3drealms and/or download the demo version for them

3drealms offers usually one episode for free. It's a quite a bit of work to finish that one

I had the CD of Duke Nukem 3D on the PC, but sadly I lost it a few years ago, so I went looking for a copy of it on the internet, and I found a cop of it. I downloaded it and the installation instructions were in a foreign language, but I found my way around it. When I installed it and looked in the folder, it came with these files:

DUKE3D, SETUP, COMMIT, DEMO1, DEMO2, DEMO3, DUKE, DN3DHELP, GAME.CON, DEFS.CON, USER.CON, SETMAIN, README, ULTRAMID, MODEM.PCK, LICENSE, DUKE3D [The GRP File], and CDROM.

All I did was Drag N' Drop the DUKE3D file onto the DOSBox icon, and it came up with that error message. Please help!

is it a windows excutable or something? where did you get the game from?

by the way, after you reply for the first time expect these posts moved in to a new separate topic in troubleshooting, so you can find it

Hello everyone,

I know people have not posted on this thread in a while....... Meh

I am kind of new to Abandonia, and I would just like to say thank you to Japofran for makng that tutorial for newbies. I just have a little problem. You all know the classic shooter Duke Nukem 3D, right? Anyway I used that Drag N' Drop method with the DUKE3D.EXE file onto the DOSBox shortcut and this is what came up:

Z:\>C:

C:\>DUKE3D.EXE
This program cannot be run in DOS mode.

Can anybody explain to me what the problem is?

Please Reply,

ColdAdzar. :}
