I remember that I was tense and anxious playing this game for the first time at the time because I did not know when and where I would be surprised by the monsters. One of the scenes I was distressed was in the library, but I managed to find the dagger and eliminated the monster. One of the curious facts was the quiet ghosts. Once you began to attack them, they became a strange shape that spun and were indestructible. It was best to leave them alone. I remember I played the new Alone in the Dark, but I still find this game more “scary”. |

Just replayed it again, and: - realised the two characters are supposed to be two difficulty levels. But come on, the only thing they differ is their background story! (The woman has more clues, and looks more aweful.) - how does the protagonist know what human flesh tastes? - what'd happen if I did not remove the chock from the barrels in the cellar? Would they be removed and the opening be free, or I got eternally stuck? |

Very entertaining, definitely... if you're patient with it The control scheme is more than a bit awkward, but it seemed to work enough to inspire a few sequels and the Resident Evil series (which also follows very much the same sort of control scheme). A very innovative game, genre bending. |

Panthro | The Alone in the Dark trilogy is available from GOG.com, so we'll need to disable the download links. |

DarthHelmet86 | If you sign up for the website there is a forum called The ISO Cellar (You have to sign up to see it) that has Alone in the Dark 1,2 and 3 in it for download. Mounting those image files and using Dosbox you can play the game with full music and sound. |

AloneInTheRoom | So Is it possible to get a cue file with the right timings? |

Geezer | You might be right. When I replaced the tracks I might have not updated the cue file since the tracks are dummy files anyway and it didn't matter. |

AloneInTheRoom | Also when I do the above method, only the first song plays in the first half of the intro, after that there is no music. |
