(It's quite tedious to list all nine - ten with magic - buttons. I thought, it's enough to mention "square" pattern: Q is upper left, W is up, E is upper right, D is right, etc. Didn't work, it seems? :) |
Oh I see!
Now I got it right! :OK: Well, the square combination works (movement and jump and hit). What didn't work for me (at DOS port) is the key for doing magic for the 2nd player. |
Ah, it seems, I missed two buttons (sorry, I never played Golden Axe, actually).
So for left player Tab=Jump, left Shift=Magic. For right player jump is 0, and magic is right Shift. They are not intersected as far as I see. Hmm, but maybe you stumbled in famous Matrix bug? See, on some (older, I believe) keyboards the keys are detected by square matrix, just as coordinates. "3rd up, second left contact pair is Q". It works perfectly for one letter, and somewhat circumvented for two, but three and more simultaneously pressed keys can trigger totally wacky combinations. If it is matrix, it's not the game bug - it's hardware keyboard bug. Change keyboard then. :) |

Would it be possible to summon Goku and Shenlong to destroy the enemies? Bah, I hope not, because I am not much of a fan of the series. http://www.abandonia.com/files/games/7/Golden Axe_7.png Ka... me... ha... me.. ha!!! After 10 hours... :laser:    |
I just realized that there is actually a readme file, buried under a million of similar ones, although it is somewhat confusing.
I played Golden Axe but trying to use the default keys is a nightmare, not to mention that combos are virtually impossible (at least for DOSBox). Of course remapping DOSBox keys (as already suggested above) is a solution, but not the easier to implement. Remapping never worked properly for me (at Linux). XD Well...I finally played it at MAME. Configuring keys is a piece of cake and as a bonus, it offers save states too (and cheats for the really desperate)! :) Guys, THANKS AGAIN for your help!!! :OK: |
