Am I the only one who now is totally used to saying Wii? Kudos to the Nintendo marketing machine :kosta:

Funnily enough at the Nintendo E3 press conference the guy said "I'd like to thank everyone that said nice things about the name. This guy." or something like that. Nintendo appears to know it wasn't a good choice for a name.

They say there's no bad publicity. Now everybody's talking about the name, so everybody's hearing about the machine.

It's true Reggie made that remark (i think it was him at least). That was an awesome display of self-mocking, which earns a lot of sympathy. I don't think they think it's a bad choice for a name. They think it was a good choice for a name, otherwise they wouldnt have chosen it... As one of the Gamespot editor said: "I thought GameCube was a lousy name, and PlayStation sounded rediculous to when I first heard it. In the end, the names cling and nobody gives a second thought to them anymore"

Yes, true and good point, I suppose, but why not just Y ? That would point out the essentials here, I think.

Iron_Scarecrow 13-06-2006 09:25 AM

Well it's pronounced "we", so Y wouldn't work.

Mighty Midget 13-06-2006 12:49 PM

Y is pronounced "why?"... ;D. I'd say that would work just fine.
