Well either that, or his ISP is throttling certain ports for bittorrent and or file sharing, my ISP does that with bittorrenting, going after specific ports and really limiting the speed, just making people work harder to get around it.

LimeWire is crappy to me. I can't find most of the things I look for on it. Torrents are the way to go, depends on which search engine you're using I guess.

Also you could try sites that search rapidshare and other files hosts like that, there's ton of stuff on that but it would be against the rules to link it.

Please read the first post, mate.

LimeWire used to be not bad few years ago, but now you mostly can use it only to find some MP3's, and even there you'll find lots of junk (but you can filter it out with the newest version). Anything else you can forget, don't even bother to go for LimeWire IMO.
EMule is good, but you need to have at least 2-3 AVI movies on your hard drive to share and be uploading them constantly to receive download cues, which would ruin you if your broadband has a montly download volume limit. The download speeds aren't really good usually, either, but it depends on how many sources a file has. With 100+ sources the download speed can reach 60-70 KB/s, otherwise it's usually at around 5-10 kb/s and you'll need to run eMule day and night just to download something, with big movies going for 2 days+nights and more. But you can find almost anything on eMule, on other hand, which you often won't find on Bittorrent.
Bittorrent can be very fast, depending on the sources and number of sources too. I usually have download speeds of 60-120 KB/s (I limited it to 120 KB/s) with even just around 7 peers, with upload speed set to 16 KB/s. If you know few good sites, you have a good chance to find movies, programs, and MP3 albums you're searching for. Isohunt or The Pirate Bay (google for them) are my personal recommendations, don't need to register or anything, and good chance to find what you search for.

^Thank you for your sound advice, but perhaps I should have explained myself better. I've been around quite a few torrent websites and have not found what I need...I'll list them, just for reference.

The Pirate Bay, Mininova, MegaNova, SuprNova (RIP), TorrentSpy (curses, I'm American), Bitenova, ISOHunt, Torrentz (sucks), and MyBittorrent.

Now, I would love to get a Demonoid invite, but I'm not even going to bother asking because I don't want to be one of the 10,000,000 people every second that clamor for one.

Oh, and I'm not looking for music or pr0n, just for your information. SoulSeek and Mininova have me pretty much set for life when it comes to musickal trakks.

Thanks Horseman, and especially you, russ! (Russ gave me one).

But oddly enough, I haven't received the activation email...does it take a while for them to send it?
