No Sound in SE
I downlaoded SE to a flash drive and installed in on C. I have a games folder on C with a folder in it for Savage Empire named "UltimaSE." This is the mount command I have in DOSBos now. Can you show me how it should be changed?
mount c c:\Games\UltimaSE c: Savage I tried to download the game to a floppy disk but it was too big, so I can't run the install from A. Right? And thanks a million for the help, I really appreciate it. |
mount a c:\games\ultimase
A: install (you'll also need a C mount, of course) |
Sorry darylrogers, we never know how keen someeone is on the dosbox prompt, so to spell it out for you:
To install : mount a c:\Games\UltimaSE -t floppy mount c c:\Games\ a: install accept C:\savage, choose SB, type of install: time saving-(this will copy all the needed files)- and VGA....mouse or keyb at your choice. Let it run, takes some time, will leave you in c:\savage (dosbox path) run with savage. To play later: mount c c:\Games\ c: cd savage savage That should do it if I didn't forgot something. :wondering: BTW, you'll also need the manual for the copy protection question. PDF format, findable at the game sheet on main site. If you need a PDF reader, don't install Adobe but: FOXIT |

OK, this is my mount command lines:
mount c c:\games\ultimase c: Savage mount a c:\games\ultimase a: install When I run DOSBox with this, it opens the Installation Menu. The Current Selection is dafaulted to "A." I cannot change this. It does not recognize any other drive on the computer. If I type "C" I get a pop-up saying "This drive does not exist." If I continue with the set-up, it next gives the Mouse/Keyboard installation menu, then the Graphics installation menu, then the Sound System installation menu. After these choices are made, I get w pop-up saying "Is the current configuration correct?" I respond "Y." I get a pop-up telling me to insert a blank floppy into the floppy drive. After I do, I get another pop-up telling me to insert the original Savage Empire Disk 1 into the floppy drive. This I cannot do. I am using an old Windows 98 computer to run these games. I am using a newer comptuer to download the zipped games files onto a flash drive. I then use the flash drive to upload the games to the old computer. I tried to download the Savage Empire zipped files onto a floppy disc on the new computer, but the files are too large. |

To install : mount a c:\Games\UltimaSE -t floppy mount c c:\Games\ a: install ---- OK, I tried this. Here is the result: Z:\>mount a c:\Games\UltimaSE-t floppy Directory c:\Games\UltimaSE-t doesn't exist Z:\>mount c c:\Games\ Drive C is mounted as local directory c:\Games\ Z:\>a: Drive A does not exist! You must mount it first. Type intro or intro mount for more information. Z:\>install Illegal command: Install. |

You wrote: "UltimaSE-t" (no space) Should be: "UltimaSE -t" (with space) Try again.... ;) |
Almost there...
-----------
To install : [b]mount a c:\Games\UltimaSE -t floppy mount c c:\Games\ a: install accept C:\savage, choose SB, type of install: time saving-(this will copy all the needed files)- and VGA....mouse or keyb at your choice. Let it run, takes some time, will leave you in c:\savage (dosbox path) run with savage. -------------- OK, I did this and it seemed to work. At the end, it just closed out and did not leave me anywhere. There was no "c:\savage (dosbox path) run with savage." ------------------------- To play later: mount c c:\Games\ c: cd savage savage ---------------------- I changed the DOSBox config to the above, run DOSBox, and now I get Z:\>c: C:\>cd savage C:\>SAVAGE\savage Illegal command: savage. C:\SAVAGE> (BTW, thanks for all the assistance. I know I'm almost there...) |
Try this...
Go to C:\savage But instead of typing savage, type: Dir make a screenshot and post it here.. (Or look for a .exe) You're right. You're almost there.. ;) |
DIR screenshot
I did manage to copy the window with the results of the DIR command. You would think that I could at least upload a screenshot, but NO-OOO! When I click on "Insert image" all I get is a pop-up asking for a web address. I am really not this dumb! I got it uploaded through the "mamage attachments" link, but I can't do anything with it from there. It's not just going to show up in this message now, is it? I guess I'll send this message and see what happens...
