I think it takes time if you recently signed up for a hotmail account, to upgrade to a 250 MB account, I don't think it has anything to do with region, because I've seen on some of the boards some people from Europe and such get upgraded too, I've also heard that yahoo is planning on upgrading it's mail account to 1 GB coming soon...

As far as I know it is only people registered in USA (maybe Canada too), that gets the upgrade. You get 25 MB right away and after a month you get 250.

I received this mail from a friend some time ago:

Increase size of hotmail inbox to 25mb.

For free of course. And note that you will NOT loose any emails or addresses
in doing this (I just did it right now, and it worked perfectly fine)

1) go into your hotmail options, personal section, "my profile" specify
country: USA, state: NY, zip code 10024

2)quit your account by going to this page
http://www.hotmail.msn.com/cgi-bin/accountclose and close your account
there. Please note once again, that you will NOT be loosing anything by
doing this. Confirm termination of your account. You will see a page saying
that your account has been terminated and marked for deletion.

3) Without delay, go to the login page www.hotmail.com and login with your
"old" username and password. This will reactivate your account right away
and prevent the deletion from happening.

4) Just keep clicking through the mail offers until you get to the normal
account page.

5) You now have 25mb storage, and have not lost anything at all. If you
remain signed in with a US address for over a month, your account limit will
be increased to 250mb.

2GB is way too much even for all the emails including spam I got in my whole life. :Brain: Unless, I start trading warez through emails. :sneaky:

I have 360 emails stored in my hotmail account(never-delete policy ^^), and thats about 1%..

irrelevantjet 20-04-2005 03:23 PM

gmail offers all the space i need, considering the most i'll send over email is 1meg....

why would you want to send 50meg attachments? christ, i'm on 56k, that will take all day..... a great invention called "file compression" could be the answer for you

DeathDude 20-04-2005 03:25 PM

I don't mind the 2GB, it can get useful, especially if you start to send a lot of high quality pictures or some other big things, plus there's a program called the GMail drive, which can allow you to create a virtual drive on your comp, so if you want to copy stuff over to your gmail account you can do so.

Hm. The front page says "1001mb free", "10mb attachments"..

Gmail offers a bit over 2GB (2112mb right now), too.

Are you sure? Because, this is what I see..
