Wazza, God Bless you.
Now it works.

About stalls : in AOE if the plane stalls when not flying straight, it will enter a spin. That is realistic, EXCEPT that in real planes usually after 2-3 turns the spin damps itself and recovery is possible.
If that doesn't happen, applying rudder (NOT aileron) in opposite direction will make exit possible.
It seems this doesn't happen in AOE : if you enter a spin you crash.
Command for baling out : Ctrl-B .
Two useful links with new scenarios and utilities :

Warning : in the 1940-41 expansions, it is possible to fly for Italian Regia Aeronautoica.... but in a Luftwaffe career. External views will show German markings on the wings.
This notwithstanding, it is the only free sim I know of featuring Macchi 200 and Fiat CR42.

Played a bit more.
It is possible to exit a spin by rudder;on my keyboard rudder is "," and ".".
The main drawback is defensive fire by bombers : it is very precise, much more than in reality, and it goes all around the bomber, without blind spots.
This means that for example the Defiant, turret armed fighter available in Aces 1940 expansion, can shoot forward and downward too, and with deadly effects, making it almost unbeatable, while in reality it was a very poor fighter.

Grerat game, anyway.

I used to play AOTP all the time when I had a 386. I use windows XP Pro, and I have no idea how to use the Abandonia boot disc. Can someone give me some pointers or something?

Never found it difficult avoiding the defensive fire from the bombers. Maybe it is because I was use to Chuck Yeager's Air Combat where they seemed to never miss. What cheeses me is when you make a head on attack on a fighter and, despite wildly jinking when you see him open fire, find yourself ripped to shreds.

If anything, the main draw back was the exclusion of the Bf-110 or the fact they never made one reflecting the Eastern front...

BTW: Never played it with the expansion.

Yet another add-ons page.

Another discovery about add-ons.
It is possible to use them to simulate a career spanning from the 1939 Poland Campaign to 1945 (and beyond, since there's a 1946 add on).
Keep in mind that every add on must be copied in a separate directory on which the original AOE is already installed. So, if you want to make four different campaigns, you need four different directories, and four different installations.
The trick consists in copying the rooster.dat file from the old to the new directory ; this will take yourt pilots, with victories, points, medals etc. to the new campaign.
Pilots from dissolved aviations, such a s Polish or French after 1940, can go on in a RAF career.

Could anyone post a full list of controls.
I am missing in bombing missions the ability of a bombing view (how to target your bombs?) is there a key for that?
Are there any keys for releasing bombs one at a time because backspace releases all of them at once >(like you have 3 bombs and it flushes them all)
I really want to devastate my ground targets and this problem also occurs in AOTP.
Thanx for any help in advance.

Artiglio 14-02-2005 09:10 AM

I think you can just release bombs at once.
For aiming, I use dive bombing or extremely low level bombing. It works.

Artiglio 24-02-2005 09:56 AM

It must be noticed that, contrary to bombs, rockets can (must) be released one at a time (key "r" ).
So if wanting to bust many ground targets, choose an aircraft able to carry them.
In career mode you can decide ordnance only if you have an high grade, so do NOT start as a lieutenant.

Another key : to drop external fuel tank use "d".

I especially recommend tyhe AOEFiX patch at http://www.gamers.org/pub/games/uwp-...im-mirror/AOE/.

From instructions :
----------------------------------------------------------
AOEFIX.ZIP

Title : ACES OVER EUROPE Patch: Pilot Gunnery (IBM)

Tired of getting blown away by aces who never miss and who always
out-turn you? Tired of getting shredded by bomber gunners? Use this patch
and you'll actually see AI controlled pilots shoot more and MISS. Does not
modify original AOE files. Installation instructions included.
Nicholas Bell.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Mind this is for ORIGINAL AOE only.
Add ons scenarios (aces 1940 etc) already have something similar installed.

Also very useful, patches for bringing computer planes ammo load to player's level (on same server) : as a default they're 3 times higher, meaning that once you've used your ammo they'll follow and shoot you until you crash.
No survival from fighter sweepo and escort missions.

Add ons have these patches installed , but you need to read their readme file to see how to properly use them.
