I only wish Garriott hadn't decided that realtime action titles were the wave of the future, because he had a superb engine from which to launch additional games in Ultima VII. It was a wonderful title, and gave birth to quite a few ideas that are still around in RPGs, today.

Richard Garriot, great man
I wish he would of kept with Ultima too, to have Ultima without Richard Garriot is to have a sandwich without the bread to hold it together man that was a crappy analogy but you know what I mean |
No, I'm just as glad his company folded. If you'll read my post, you'll see that I took strong exception to his belief in realtime action games as being what we all needed, and his desire to move the Ultima series from an RPG into that. So I could only have wished someone else had taken on Ultima after the two major releases of #7. Certainly not Garriott, who decided he knew better than his audience about what they wanted.

True...thats the bad thing about childhood memory, its faulty
I am still living in the 80's LOL and forgot what changes he did before he left |

Um, Wizardry never reached 9. Only 8 products were released. #9 is on hold, because according to Sir-Tech, European royalties owed for Jagged Alliance II (which would have funded further development on Wizardry 9) have never been paid. Also, there's good reason to say that M&M 9 was never released. After #8, the series was literally taken away from its longtime developers and given to an entirely new team. In my opinion, that doesn't qualify #9 for "Might and Magic" status, whatever the box may say. Other people may see this differently. |
yeah thats kind of like Star Wars and Some Horror movies
Different writer does part of the series..original writer comes back and tells you to ignore the ones he doesn't do. Makes it very confusing. |
