Can't brag with quantity, but there are a few real gems in my collection:
The Best of Bowie (47 David Bowie music videos,) 'Allo 'Allo series 1-4, a box of seven excellent Andrzej Wajda movies, 6 Kaurismäki films, the Three Colours trilogy of Kieslowski. I'm jealous at Picard's Northern Exposure (the 2nd and the 3rd season are out on DVD too, by the way), The Muppet Show and The Young Ones discs. Must get. |
Film:
The Pianist The Incredibles Hero King Arthur (crap) Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Ali G Indahouse Sleepy Hollow Twelve Monkeys The Matrix: Revolutions Master and Commander Troy The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Twin Warriors Spiderman 2 Pirates of the Carribean Amelie Shaun of the Dead Buffalo Soldiers 8 Mile The Tailor of Panama Catch me if you can Goodbye Lenin That's about it, I think. Unless there's any I've forgotten about. |
I don't have that many, but still:
Series: League of Gentlemen season I and II Father Ted season I, II, III and IV Family Guy season I, II and III Futurama season I, II, III and IV Movies: The Hulk (Dad!) Pearl Harbour (the new shitty version, dad again) The Lion King (I (l) lions) The Indiana Jones DVD box The Ring The "best of Kubrick" DVD box Goodbye Lenin Der Untergang Das Experiment Das Boot The Hunt for the Red October Schindler's List there are probably more but I forgot, so meh. |
I don't have many, never really have time to watch films.
Lola Rein The Waking Life (by far my favourite film http://www.wakinglifemovie.com/trailer.html) The Salton Sea Trainspotting Requiem For a Dream Pi Fight Club American Splendor American Beauty Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind Momento Ghostworld A crapload of Kubriks stuff Donnie Darko Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Hey, you gotta respect your culture) Hero Fist of the Dragon House of Flying Daggers Princess Bride All the monty pythons, including flying circus Hotel Rwanda Downfall The Cup All of Georgies zombie films Shaun of the Dead The evil dead series (yea, I'm a sucker for B-horror, although I wish I still had my laser disc collection, The Fiend Without a Face and that) Akira Princess Mononoke Ghost in the Shell (weird how I even have these, I don't particularily like Anime at all) and a bunch more I don't really want to take the time to recall at the moment. Oh, and, because it's so lame to even mention it, a making of DVD that came with Resident Evil 4. |
The only things I have on DVD are the Red vs Blue series'.
They're pretty hilarious and I'm WAY too skint to actually have anything good. |

Hmmm, clearly I cannot hope to compete where quantity is concerned.
So, I will try to outbrag you all by listing my superior quality DVDs, reflecting greatly on the superior perception and intelligence of Yours Sincerely. In no particular order: -The Complete Two Seasons Of THE AWFUL TRUTH (Michael Moore!) -Stanley Kubrick's "Barry Lyndon" (some peeps wanna slit their wrists watching this but not me) -LOTR EE DVDs, all three (twelve) of em yessirree! -"Glory" superior warmovie about the first black regiment in the American Civil War (starring among others, Morgan Freeman and a young Denzel Washington) -"V: the original miniseries" and "V: the final battle" (note: NOT the horrible 'third season') -Paul Verhoeven's STARSHIP TROOPERS (it's a satire, really!) -"Robin Of Sherwood," the best ever Robin incarnation ever, BBC series of the 80s (first two seasons starring Michael Praed, not Jason Connery, son of...) -"Labyrinth" -"The Tenth Kingdom" -"Tombstone" if you like westerns, this is just for you! If you don't like westerns... this one's also for you! Excellent movie! -"Fahrenheit 9/11" -"The Nazis: A Warning From History" -"When Trumpets Fade:" for all you who thought "Saving Private Ryan" was great, this movie is much better, more realistic (though not as big budget on special fx) -"Once Upon A Time In The West" -"Once Upon A Time In America" superior films dispelling the fairy tales about America... -"The Matrix" and a few other movies but not bragging about these since they are fairly popular and all... -nearly forgot to include this one! "Soldaat van Oranje" (Soldier of Orange)! Best Dutch warmovie evva! Better than most American warmovies for that matter. |
Big DVD brag:
GTA San Andreas :D (Barely had time to play though :not_ok: ) Seriously, I've only got two (other) DVD's myself: 'Art Garfunkel across America' and 'Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel' Additions planned... |
I've noticed that several people own Goodbye Lenin. I remember hearing about it when it came out, but I never got around to watching it. Maybe I should, if so many people deem it worthy to own.
And I also see that TWO(!) people own V the miniseries. All I remember from watching it is Marc Singer's (the guy from Beastmaster :D) abysmal performance. It's been a long, long time, though, so I might not be remembering correctly. Is it good, as in "actually good"? Or is it good as in campy/nostalgia/worth a laugh? |
"Is it good?"
How dare you question the quality of this excellent series! It's the age-old SF metaphor: ALIENS = NAZIS Meaning that the alien invasion as depicted really shows how fascism can creep into society (they start banning scientists, subvert our youth through their indoctrination and it's chilling to see regular policemen collaborating with these fascist scum). Marc Singer wasn't bad. Jane Badler was HOT WOOF! "V: The Final Battle" was not bad either, since it had a bigger budget plus it included Michael Ironside. It is good as in actual, campy and nostalgia. But no laughing matter... |
