if you're in dosbox that shouldn't be too much trouble, since it should trick the game into thinking whatever you mount as c to be c, so you can get round that quite easily. for instance, mine does:

mount c c:\DOSProgs\

so if anything is at c:\DOSProgs\gamexyz it'll act as if it's at C:\gamexyz when in dosbox.

Besides being a fantastic game, the engine does stuff DooM has never done, and it came out before Wolf3D!

And a few years later, an enhanced version of the engine was used to make System Shock. A very intelligent FPS indeed.

There's a small utility patch around that lets ypu play both this, and UW2 in Win 2000 and XP without any dosbox or anything else. Works great.

That depends on your PC, really. If you await a competent answer to this question, you should mention your PC details. Keep in mind though, that DosBox needs at least a P3 with 1Ghz to be able to emulate the more simple games adequate. ;)
