Euston!

BeefontheBone 30-08-2005 09:44 PM

Euston? Euston? Always a bad move - I'm going to let you off this once because you're clearly a beginner, but ever since the introduction of the Aberford East ruling into the official rulebook, Euston's almost always a no-go. You should probably have gone for Piccadilly Circus. I'm glad you didn't though, 'cause I'm going to try and collect a set of circuses - they pay 10x the dice throw when you've got them all. Unless I'm thinking of a different game.

Oxford Circus!

Incidentally, AFAIK the game was created for the long running Radio 4 programme I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue (which I'm actually listening to right now) - billed as the "antidote to panel games" when panel games were still played, but lasting for many years, it's extremely popular, and Mornington Crescent is one of a number of running in-jokes - also under this heading could be Humpf's introductions involving local history and slagging off the panel, the entirely fictional scorer Samantha who is the behind of some incredibly filthy double entendres and singing rounds like One Song to the Tune of Another and Pick Up Song.

Charing-Cross (which, incidentally, is too short for the trains so people on the last couple of carriages have to go to one of the carriages further forward to get off).

EDIT: Euston is right next to Mornington Cresent (If my tube knowledge serves me well).

I should have been more specific about the ruleset initially, but I didn't want to throw off any novices who might otherwise be interested in the game. I wasn't intending to utilize Hammerford's Circle of Circuses, but since it wasn't explicitly declared, I'll let it pass.

Fruit Pie Jones 30-08-2005 09:54 PM

Oh, I guess it's me, isn't it? Hampstead for the double-pass.

BeefontheBone 30-08-2005 10:00 PM

Ah, that old chestnut. I find it's easily countered with the rarely-seen Pimlico block. Pimlico.

Fruit Pie Jones 30-08-2005 10:02 PM

West Hampstead is still open, though, so I'll just pop over there.

Tom Henrik 30-08-2005 10:14 PM

And I'll pop over to Kilburn.

Fruit Pie Jones 31-08-2005 02:02 PM

You seem to have stumped everybody with that one, Tom. I fear we're getting a bit close to the dreaded DHL (the full name of which I dare not speak so early in the game), so I call shooters and play Embankment.

Tom Henrik 31-08-2005 02:15 PM

Kilburn is the next station from West Hampstead ;)

But ok, as you call shooters, I'll go an hide in Swiss Cottage :ok:

Edit:
And in case people wonder, I don't have any clue about the rules, so I am trying different approaches to crack the code. This game will be mine... oh yes.
