I had Cheva and i think its much better thean Lego. But now, both of them suck with those uber-shaped block. You get 5 pieces for 200Czk(around 9 USD AFAIK)and you cant build anything else from them than whats displayed on box

I am the proud owner of 5 crates of lego at the bottom of my cupboard.

Anyone remember Lego technic? It was regarded by many as inferior to other sets such as Meccano but it was really good and offered lots of versatily. Onew of my happiest childhood memories was when I made was about 5 or 6 and made a machine that would travel back and forth along a pice of string steched across a room, I had hours of fun making that go backwards and forward, backwards and forwards...

However there was something a lot like lego, only more mechanical... sadly I can't remember the name.
Well it was either Tinker Toys or an erector set... :D

I have many lego sets that are no longer available - since they change them and stop selling sets so often. I wonder if they are worth any money?

I like Lego. Technic is good for making army guys that have moving arms and legs.

Meccano rules, except your hands always had that metallic smell on them for a week afterwards.
Ah, the smell of childhood.
They all had their own smell - these toys - the old plastic smell of the crates of lego blocks I had in the corner of my room, the more modern plastic smell of Knex.

And I don't think I'll ever forget the feeling of getting up at 7:00 and accidentally stepping on one of those little blocks.

Not only do I remember it, I still buy as much of it as my wife will let me. The Lego catalogs are a love/hate thing, as I dearly love to find out what new sets are out there that I cannot afford. Sadly, being a parent, i do not have time to play with the Lego that I have. Last Christmas, I took the plunge and bought a MindStorms set (more technic than you can shake a stick at, with a Lego microcontroller to drive your robots), but they discontinued the remote control before I could buy it (much wailing and gnashing of teeth).

I could spend over a thousand dollars on various sets, if I could get away with it. I want the Technic crane, the Imperial Star Destroyer (over three thousand pieces!), the Death Star, the jawa sand crawler, the (sadly discontinued) Technic back hoe, the various designer sets, and the list just gets longer.

I have a bunch of LEGO Techinc, LEGO Cybermaster, Meccano and K'Nex stuff built and put on a shelf to "show off" (and gathering dust :P ). Too bad the coolest and biggest sets are so expensive :(
Though the Meccano Evolution sets are pretty cool since you can make loads of stuff with the same set, including stuff from previous Evolutions. I got Meccano Evolution 3 :D
