Could we maybe use the space of the shoutbox for something more useful? Maybe a few more links that are importaint (like the DOSBox tutorial, Rules, Help Me alien,...)

yah. only sandbox with usernames is ok.

otherwise people just troll. and it's easy. childish trolls... if we had username then they couldn't "play" in the abandonia sandbox.

you know, maybe sometimes you think that your question or thought can be considered as spam, or you want something that could have been answered already but you wasnt lucky in search function. or just when you are not sure if it is or it is not worth to make new thread then you just type it in shout box

What it shouldn't be used for, and what it has been used for, is impersonating others, spamming with hotdog songs, or worse:

Such spam. A shoutbox's a good thing, if it's used responsibly. The way it's been used lately, though, is abusing a privilege that's been given. As some can't seem to use it in a mature, responsible way, that privilege gets taken away. If those who think that did use it responsibly want to settle this, they should settle it with those that abused it, so they'll behave from now on.

Small problem. I agree with you on the shoutbox being a privilege and that it has been taken away... But how can a regular member settle something with a guest (or even another member for that matter).

I know I have a few addresses, but I won't go around with baseball bats beating every shoutbox spamer into a pulp (although the people that I have the addresses off aren't the shoutbox spamers). The only way something like that could happen would be if there was a shoutbox mod/admin or something...

Not to mention we don't actually know who is responsible for all of this anyway, seriously I think that a shoutbox where only members can post under their real nickname could work...

We (the Admins) agree with you but it will take time to implement that.
