In Diablo 2 you can have as much as lvl 100 (up to lvl 40-45 reachable effectively in normal difficulty). As for the necromancer, you're already doomed. You had to skill up skeletons first of all and the skeleton mastery (if you don't have that one high up yet), then you wouldn't have that many problems in CS right now (that is, if you have the latest patch 1.11 installed). Golem isn't the best choise also, but if, then clay golem (slowes enemies, much life) is the best until you can choose revive skill. With it you will have it relative easy then, eventhough still little slow.
If I would be you, I would restart the necromancer and build up skeletons and mastery instead. Skill lvl 5-6 of skeletons is enough for the start, then max the mastery out, after which the skeletons. 1 point in Revive can't hurt, either.

I have D2 patched up to v1.11 (what good is that anyway?).

You're saying that Golem isn't good. I've gone through half of the game with a ClayG (only way) and the rest with a BloodG or IronG. My usuall attack consists of this:

Blood Golem up front with me (bone-armored) on either side + 3 Skeleton mages in the back.
The blood golem is definately the best choice here - he provides me with health he steals of of enemies, I provide a powerful melee atttack with my Necro + I curse all with "Amplify Damage". I flee a few meters off of the enemies if the going gets tough and then - come back for some more. If fighting a powerful boss - I create a TP rightaway, so that I could jump in anytime without fearing death or going through the dungeons again.

I don't see a sign of weakness in all this, but I do wanna level up to lvl30 so that I could use the revive skill.

I thought about having the skeleton army at first, but the skills had requirements for tougher combat and I didn't wanna waste my skillpoints for weak skeletons. Some people say that curses are a waste of time, but I chose some just to know what they do. I think in the early hours the "Iron Maiden" is good, but now my "Amplify Damage" is way better, cause I mainly use it to do great damage to foes in a short period of time, thus eliminating them quicker than with "IM".

I could write down all my stats to you if you could have any tips, suggestions, tricks for my char then. I really think I'll have to go to Act4's first open areas if I wanna level up for the last assault on D. What do you say to that?

Well, if he's the only one left - why shouldn't I kill him? LOL

Well... OK, I'll try to do that, but it ain't givin' me much experience.

Himmler 11-07-2006 06:50 PM

yeah...that'd be good...you can level quicker in MP so go for it ;)

troop18546 11-07-2006 07:38 PM

Maybe I'll try it in MP tomorrow, anything for that lvl 30 (at least).

I would like to meet someone online for a trade.

I'm looking for:

a strong shield
a strong helm (full or bone-helm)
a powerful flail

I need all socketed or rare or set items.

P.S. If anyone has something from the Iserhart's or Cleglaw's etc. sets for trade - I'm willing to buy it (in gold ofcourse). It would aid me in my SP quest to kill Diablo.

The Necromancer is very difficult in Act 4, while he can pummel most other bosses, he doesn't do as well against those annoying mage knights in Act 4.

My only advice is to try to level up more and put a ton of points in Bone Spear, you can kill most guys in Act 4 (including big D) it goes right through enemies, so you can hit a ton of guys in a big group, which makes it quite useful in Act 4. You can kill Diablo with it, it will take a long time, but eventually he will fall, just have a town portal open constantly, in case you die.
Dodge his attacks best you can, same with the mage knights, you will be able to finish off most monsters in Act 4 by killing them with bone spear, it damages enough of them to hurt them properly. With patch 1.11 you should have synergy from Teeth and such to have bonespear doing enough damage at level two or so.

That's all I suggest, once you reach Nightmare, it will be alot easier, just spend alot of points on your damaging skills, bonespear will keep you alive through most of the game, just upgrade it every now and then.

Oh, and summons are completely useless, look to changing the type of skills you use (I only ever use Fire Golem, and even that gets useless in Hell difficulty when most monsters are immune).

Some Diablo2 players praise that bonespear skill, I don't have a single point in it, but the revive skill seems better, cause it can re-animate the dead with 200% HP. THAT'S a thing not to be missed.
I think I'll just use some points for that bonespear thingie (you said 2 is enough for act4?) when I reach a new level - I'll try that, cause it seems to work good. Nothing else seems to work that good, although all other acts are now a piece of cake. I think that poison nova could be a good thing to have, cause no enemies are prepared for it in act4.

P.S. BP, do you play D2 now? I could create or join you in a game for experience and some trades (I'm reffering to open battle.net, cause there my char is). PLEASE, anybody - help me gain exp in openB.net.

Blood-Pigggy 11-07-2006 10:00 PM

I don't play Diablo 2 much.
And If I was, I would not touch Open, I'm sorry, but if I install it again, the only place you'll find me is closed Bnet.

Oh, and DO NOT PUT ANY POINTS IN REVIVE, it's a completely useless skill, not only are the monsters worthless ressurected, but you also have a limited amount of revives, and they're even under a time limit, you can only have about five revives that last a minute long, the skill is utterly useless, don't waste any of your points in it.

I suggest you get at least 5 points in bone spear, 2 points should be enough for Act 4 if you don't mind slowly cutting through the enemies, I suggest you get at least 3 points, only 2 if you feel like going real slow.

OK OK, I'll first use bonespear.
But, why do you fear open.bnet so much? I mean there are hackers there and cheaters, but you shouldn't worry about that while playing with me. I mean the fact that my char is lvl27 shouldn't scare nobody.

P.S. Anyone else up for a game or few on open.bnet? I want to buy some equipment and gain some exp, that's all. PLEASE :sos:
(note to self - plead more to raise attention :whistling: )
