It was like a crappy generic fighting game. Fighting with a weapon was useless, which was why I just launched spell after spell no matter what class I was. Spells were overpowered and melee was too weak and dangerous. It sucked out all of the skill involved in fighting from the previous games. QFG4 definitely has the best story though and some great voice acting and atmosphere.

QFG1 is the best all around game in my opinion, though. It had a nice variety of quests and areas.

That reminds me. Does anyone else have the problem where purple colors bleed through the stats screen at night in the VGA version? I'm guessing it's a palette problem. I played the Mac version back in the day and don't remember that problem, so I don't know if it's a problem with the DOS version or a DosBox emulation problem. It's very annoying though.

get exactly the same stuff. but not every night though, and the level of "color bleed" is random each night too

MINOR SPOILER WARNING

I have a small problem in the brigand fortress.
I made my way through all the rooms just to realize i need a dispel potion to beat the leader... and i dont have it. Is there any alternatives? i couldnt go back either so it is a dead end. Tried some codes but couldnt get them to work. I play VGA version.

well.. you can climb back out of the fortress and go back snatch the potion. but you can't climb out when you're already inside the building

but if you're already stuck,

here are my saves: http://www.sendspace.com/file/5kqtpr i played theif
backup your old ones just in case and then replace them with these

the savegame that says "i have dispell" is what you're looking for. or you don't have ingredients for dispell yet? in any case, you can check out the saves, there are some more

i think they are also ordered chronologically from the oldest to the newest bottom/top

Finding this game just makes me happy. They don't make games like this anymore. No school like the old school. This game got me hooked on adventure games but unfortunately there are no other games like this series. I always wished I could find other games like this but its in a genre all its own.

I'm glad to see it on abandonia since it was overlooked when the other sierra game series were released. Now the next generation of gamers have the opportunity to enjoy the goodness that is this game.

Importing characters...

Top notch classic games...all the quest for glories although im partial to the first 2...All are great in there own way....5's combat was a little disappointing although that never was what really drove this series....

I have a problem importing my character....For some reason I cant save the character to my harddrive, and when I use a flash disk the game doesnt recognize the f: drive...can anyone help me its really a downer

Ups!!

Hi guys

I just started quest for glory 1 (for the first time) and I must say it's a great game.

I have a little bit of a problem though. Since in the beginning I wasn't sure how to buy stuff so I sort of stole some healing potions from the healer - it was actually more of an accident then on purpose. Anyway, now everytime I return she won't let me in!!

Anybody now how to get around that!?

I play a fighter by the way.

Thanks

Regards Red Makak

Simply ask her, that you want to "buy healing potion". If you "take" a potion without paying, she refuses to let you into her shop. I suggest that you continue from an earlier savegame (or restart whole game) as the healer becomes later very important for your main quest.

No other way around?

I stole the potion very early in the game and I have played around 10 hours since - so the option of starting over is pretty exhausting... isn't there any other way around so she will let you in?
And is it impossible to complete the game without dealing with her?

Thanks

Hmmm, I did this before too, well actually I think I attacked her. Anyways, from what I recall you're most likely stuck.
