I'm guessing it was a fight between a ground troops attacking fighter and an interceptor. Was either one a jet plane?

Question #7:* Which two aircraft were involved in what is commonly accepted as the last air-to-air engagement over the Western Front in World War II?
Here it is ! ;)

My answer, just because those are my favorite ww2 planes : Messerschmitt 262 and Hurricane. But since Hurricane is not american, i'll say Corsair.

Darn, I just realized none of the two were fighters (I guess I didn't read the previous clues carefully enough). And you said SLOW, so I'm guessing either transport aircrafts or maybe even something less unlikely to get involved in aerial combat...

Was the german one maybe even a GLIDER???

Ah, now you're on the right track. The German aircraft wasn't a glider, BTW. Both combatants were powered aircraft.

"Bucker Bu 181 Bestmann" maybe?

Fruit Pie Jones 14-03-2006 07:41 PM

No, but that's not a bad guess. The German aircraft I'm thinking of is even slower than the Bestmann, but it's more well-known. The American aircraft...well, we'll get to that in a minute, I suppose.
