if you think theyre being unreasonable, what do you think of people like disney, who wont even let their ancient stuff go out of copyright?

It's very logic in fact, even them know that those "new" games are nothing more than the same old games already created but with some new hyped graphics... Their logic is "if someone can get the old game available for free they may have enough and not want to purchase the new version".

Which is generally true because the old version was probably better anyway! :D

I wouldn't buy a new game because it had excellent graphics when I could have the old one that was actually more fun to play!

Make one exception, and you'd have dozens of people screaming for more. And every company with a shareware title would be wanting it listed, too. Where do you draw the line? Besides, aren't there are plenty of sites displaying hundreds of shareware games of all sorts? Even the mainstream shareware sites have large directories full of games.

On the other hand, good sites with reviewed abandoned games are few. And deservedly proud. :D

well, keen1 & 4 aren't really shareware...

i think a better definition would be freeware portions of a complete release. if you had the full version of these titles, you wouldn't have 1 and 4 with more features, you would have 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5.

1 and 4 would be unchanged. and, therefore, as there are no differences between the freely available 1 and 4 and the registered 1 and 4, they are both technically freeware.

yeah, but, do these really old games (created mostly from 1990 to 1995) APPEAL to such a great number to game players nowadays, so that the game companies consider profitable to sell them still?
i mean, i can't imagine why some new gamer, 18 or 20 years old, would prefer buying Wolfenstein3d to doom3 or any similar recent game. :blink:

Yes, they are. In fact, they say they are in the beginning of the game.

I don't think all of the Duke Nukem games are non-freeware, unlike what's said on the site. I'm pretty sure you can download one of the older versions from the official site.

Also, looking at the list, I have one conclusion - George Lucas is an a-hole :P

All Duke Nukem games are still for sale at 3Drealms, who own the copyright on the games. Hard to believe that they are still selling Duke Nukem I (from 1991) on Floppy Disks in it's original packaging but they are. The only downloads on the site are the shareware episodes!
