Silent hill 1, 2 and 3 :D
Silent Hill series is survival horror at its finest... I think the best is the first one on PSone (I've played it thousands of times) but the whole series is great.

Silent Hill 4 is a good game as well, I must say.

My recommendation: Shadow of the Comet. It's a little difficult in terms of interface, but two elements overcome this with a large surplus: 1. Cthulhu Mythos and 2. quite good puzzle elements.
I agree this game is good once you get used to it!!!
Its got my recomendation.

Most definetly. That game scared the life out of me :) but still I ventured onto complete it, quality. I can't go back to it now though, it's really hard on the eye..there might be a PS2 remake on the cards...

I enjoyed Silent Hill 4 as well, havent completed it yet, I might go back to it at some point. I feel it was better than 2&3

I've heard a lot of critics about Silent Hill 4: The Room, but I really liked it. It has a good plot, a claustrophobic atmosphere and sometimes it can be really scary.

Project Firestart for the C64 is good :)
I wanted to play that.. downloaded it and an emulator and everything but I was to dumb to work it!

C64 emulators are pretty easy, they're hard to find what you need though.
I totally forget The Suffering!
It was pretty underated (7.5 average) but man! I've never played a action/horror game that had me scared, and adreline pumped at the same time! Not to mention it's weird storyline and bizarre enemies.

TheGiantMidgit 01-10-2005 02:12 AM

Eternal Darkness is also pretty spooky.

Blood-Pigggy 01-10-2005 02:29 PM

Aye.
Although the fact that once you get the battle system in hand, much of the fear when encountering monsters is gone, cause... it's so easy to kill them by simply chopping off their limbs.

Even harder creatures like Horrors or Guardians become common procedure.
I LOVED the game, but the only parts I was really scared was in the mansion, that place was freakin' creepy.

Insanity effects were very fun. :w00t:

Ok, here's the manual for PF http://project64.c64.org/games/m-z/pfires10.zip

Which emu were you using? I reccomend Vice since it's really good and easy to use :)

If you have any problems with the emulator don't hesitate to PM me, since I think that would be better than to OT this topic ;)
