I don't watch that much movies really, but my favourites are :

Everything from Lynch, Hitchcock and Month Python.
Star Wars, Fargo, Blade Runner, Silence of the Lambs.
Films from books : One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, The Name Of The Rose, A Clockwork Orange, Jean de Florette + Manon des Sources.

Maybe he hopes that he'll find a couple good recommendations here.

Actually, that would be one side effect :)

But mostly, it may be interesting to see what people prefer. You might see someone enjoying the same stuff as you do.

By the way, another Anime reccomendation: the new Hellsing OAV, also known by some as Hellsing Ultimate OAV. Nice plot, awesome soundtrack, killer visuals.

I like a lot of different stuff. Everything from 80's action (just for the hell of it) to old silent stuff like nosferatu. I never see much movies thats not at least 5-10 years old though. There's more total crap than good stuff coming out these days... :(

I like Star Wars a lot too, mainly the old trilogy but also episode III. I and II were medicore at best imho.
I watch some anime stuff too, but not much. Ghost In The Shell and Akira would have to be my favourites from that genre.

I'd say my favourite for the moment is the Lynch stuff, especially Mulholland Drive, Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks.

And of course all the strange Norwegian stuff like Svidd Neger, Johhny Vang, Den Brysomme Mannen and Naboer. What is it with Norwegian films and weird men ? :P

We could discuss about II, but I didn't find I mediocre at all. The way Palpatine is already plotting against the Jedi, while they give him so much confidence, "Always difficult to see, the dark side it is". Let's not forget I is supposed to introduce the characters and the story. Of course it gets more interesting later on, but that doens't make I a bad movie.

And yeah, Nosferatu is old, but still a wonderful movie. :ok:
