I actually have both versions, but I always relied on my old, antiquidated backup (which I could install on what passed for my DOS computer, a 486 laptop. The CD wouldn't work with it). My M&M Collection disc was stolen, so I can't check it now, but that don't matter because I backed everything up anyway except SoX.

It's sad, I remember the days when a 1.44mb floppy was a large disk. Now we have 8 gig DVDs. :P I shouldn't come here, I feel too old!

You should be able to play the newer version on your laptop, even if it doesn't support CDRom. You just have to copy the mm3 folder from the CD installation to your laptop (you don't even have to copy the files which were changed after the installation), if you use a packer like 7zip you can split it into several archives small enough for your floppy discs.

Well the crack isn't working on my dosbox but the game is so could you find the manual in any way pretty please!!!

Doesn't work? Please describe exactly what are you doing and what messages DOSBox returns.

I had the laptop back when I was on the road a lot, and I'd never heard of DOSBox. I sold it to my cousin later for $10. Since I'm at home now, I just play though DOSBox, which runs everything that I have except U7. I just run that in Exult now.

If your problem with U7 is EMS related, just set EMS to false in the DOSBox config.

My problem with U7 is that I have it up and running with Exult. :P Thanks though, when/if I come across a game that don't like EMS, I'll remember that.

That would, if my memory isn't playing tricks on me, just about every Ultima game except the Underworld games which need EMS :P :ok: Happy gaming

no way, m&m 6 and 7 are The best ever, especially the 7th one. then the 8th was not as good and 9th total disapointment. btw i just tried this third one and 7th is waaaay better. even lands of lore seems to be=/

I think they might all be good. I am in 6 almost finished and it IS a really fun game and thats what matters is if you are enjoying it. I would have finished by now but I can't keep away from my war games right now. Good pick Abandonia! :kosta:

U6 works fine in DOSBox. Both U7 games work fine with Exult. AFAIK, all the prior Ultimas should work fin in DOSBox as well. Unless your referring to U8, which I haven't even tried to run yet.

I didn't like M&M6, like 7 a little more, then hated 8. I refused to get 9. They were okay I guess... but they disappointed me after World of Xeen. I ended up giving my copies of 6-8 to my brother. He has 9, but since he's got Vista, nothing works (including vista). I have far less trouble getting things to work right, and I run Linux.
