The only console I have ever owned was a Sega Mega Drive 2. Marvelous thing that was too. It may still work.

I don't bother with consoles. By the time I get one they'll have made a new one and then I'll have spent my money for nothing.

XBOX-360 is made by Microsoft.
So I don't buy it :)

Rogue 21-11-2005 12:34 PM

You copy it? LOL

@Iron_Scarecrow - I use consoles for two reasons:

collector (sick :))

can't upgrade PC as much as games change requirements

At the moment I got:

Sega Genesis/Megadrive 2 (still works, got ~70 games so far)
Sega Dreamcast (great console, perfect to play PD stuff)
Sony PS
Sony PS2
Nintendo GC

and of handhelds:
Sega GameGear (EU version)
Nintendo GBA SP

I had N64, but had a lot of problems with catridges, so I returned it.

I used to want a console for this reason (like a playstation or N64). But then they brought out better consoles and I realised its basically the same as with computers, they are alwasy improving, and you have to spend to keep up, it's just they don't improve at a faster rate with consoles than they do with computers. So I've given up on wanting a console. I like handhelds cause we often go on long 3 week car trips and I have to have something to do all day while my parents sit and look at birds for hours on end in the middle of nowhere.

And I hate having to keep up the ever increasing power of computers, but we only got a computer cause I need it for school, and then someone leant me a few games and it went from there.

It's cheaper to get a new console than upgrade your PC.

Iron_Scarecrow 21-11-2005 01:04 PM

Yeah but I've got a PC, I don't want to have to do it for both. And like I said I needed the PC for my schoolwork and then I just got caught up in all this gaming and upgrading.

All of this also depends on propriatory games.

I purchased NGC just to be able to play games such as F-Zero and Metroid. None of those games will be made for other consoles or computer. Same goes with Tekken and FF games (except FF XI - which I don't have)

Now that they will lower price of XBox, I'm thinking to get it just to get some of propriatory games for it too. . :D

I forgot third reason I like consoles.

It is nice to play games in living room on bigger screen. :D

Wow! That's a LOT of consoles :omg:

I have...

Nintendo64 (Limited Edition Transparent Blue) 15-25 Games

PlayStation1 (Original & Broken)
PS1 (The smaller white thing)

Around 50-100 PS1 Games.

Playstation2 (Slightly faulty but works pretty well)
PS2Slim

Around 40 Games.

Xbox (Original & Broken)
Xbox Crystal

Around 20-50 Games.

My main reason for trying to get my hands on a 360 is the fact that since buying a Xbox it has become dominant over my PS2 nearly ALL of my latest purchases are for the Xbox.

If I had the capability of getting a decent PC and keeping it upgraded I would do that. However it's not something I can do so I choose to get a console or 4 and play them for 3/4 years until the new next gen console makes its rounds.

If you are still not convinced take a look at one of my other reasons behind purchasing this console

Mass Effect

Like Knights of the Old Republic and Jade Empire, Mass Effect is a squad-based RPG, so you'll travel around in a trio, but you'll have command of a space vessel and its crew. You're a military authority, and it's your task to raise humanity to the pinnacle of its galactic civilization. Sounds a little like Star Trek, perhaps a little like Too Human. But the key is how you go about achieving this hefty task. Do you want to achieve it in an evil way, or in an heroic way? A third choice is to take a profiteering approach, which is a wiggly in-between gray area. Somewhat like Fable, the decisions you make have massive effects (get it?) on the world around you.

Two of the game's key themes are organic life vs. artificial life and nature vs. technology. As you and your crew learn, the more advanced artificial life living in distant solar systems have plans for you that are, shall we say, not so pretty. BioWare asks the question, "What would happen if we explored deep into the far reaches of the galaxy and found civilizations that are vastly more advanced than ours? What would they do with us if their intentions weren't all that altruistic?" As the lead character, which you create from the beginning and enhance and alter throughout, you come to the realization that humankind and this other, more advanced AI civilization, cannot co-exist.

''Making its debut at X05 in Amsterdam, BioWare showed us a quick video and then delved into great detail on the goals it has for the first in a three-part action-RPG.''
