I love this topic - food is one of my other passions! I am in South Africa and we have a rather large greek community nearby. Needless to say all sorts of sticky and sweet puddings e.g baklava and kataifi abound.

We don't really have a national dessert as such in SA but we make a pudding called Malva Pudding. It is a sort of combination of butter, sugar, flour eggs and spices. No it does not sound too appetising but it is really delicious! I make the worlds most wicked sticky toffee chocolate pudding! :ot:

A pot luck dinner sounds like a great idea - although looking at the posts so far it might just end up being a dessert pig out of note!

I don't think there are many true Aussie desserts. I don't frequent restraurants much so I haven't tried or even heard of half the stuff you are all talking about. But they sure do look nice. :ok:
