I just downloaded the file - no issues, and testing the archive shows no problems with it either.
Please specify more details about your problem so we may be able to help you.

Love these trek games, but the space battles are horrible -I lose every time! There should be a radar or something so you know where they are!

I recall 25th Anniversary had one in the middle of the bridge - that round device with multiple dots on it.

The radar can only be viewed when the viewscreen is not full-screen. Press V to see the rest of the bridge. The Enterprise is always in the center of the radar, and the colored dots are enemy ships. A good strategy is to press 7 for medium speed, follow a ship until the radar shows it one ring away from you, then slow down to speed 3. Phaser it unless it is very close or moving directly toward/away from you. Don't forget to shoot the torpedoes ahead of its path.

If Scotty said "We're off course, captain!" you didn't read the star map and should restore a game and start over. The Elasi Pirates are unbeatable, btw.

This game is intended to run in plain old DOS. You need to open the folder where the main game program (RITES.EXE) is located. Right-click on RITES, select Properties from the menu, then select the Memory tab. Under Expanded (EMS) Memory click on None then select Auto or 1024 . You the game will have a MB of RAM all to itself. To make the sound and music work run SETUP.EXE. Choose Roland SCC-1/General Midi for Music and Sound Blaster Pro for sound effects. The music will speed up/slow down constantly if you're multi-tasking.

Why not run it in Dosbox and save yourself all that trouble. This game runs fine in it.

A beginners guide to Dosbox will help you set it up to run.

1. The game randomly sends you against Klingons, Romulans OR Elasi.
2. There are 1-3 ships, this is also random.
3. Most of those scenarios are difficult, but should be beatable.
4. Remember about a simple trick. Lock on to an enemy and get them into your target... AS LONG AS NO ENEMY HAS YOU IN THEIRS... fire and immediately press any of the buttons to talk to the crew. The combat will pause, but weapons cooldown will not be affected. This can get you out of situations like fighting three Klingon Warbirds. :D
