After many crashes I've finally found an almost 100% sure way to land: Fly from left to right at about the center of the screen and JUST after passing the right end of the ship start turning left while maintaining altitude. Then IMMEDIATELY after the turn press and hold UP and you should land safely.

What I don't get is how the hell am I supposed to hit anything with bombs. The front view is useless since at the time it shows the target it's already too close to hit. So I just fly over the island at low altitude holding ENTER key and praying for a kill. I know there has to some better way, pls help.

P.S.: By pressing CTRL-E you can switch between FAST and SLOW mode ( default is SLOW, but I find it much easier to play at FAST ).
P.P.S.: pardon my poor english

This stupid plane will NOT get off the aircraft carrier. I tried doing what u said... it falls and goes splash! Its not moving really fast either. It just doesnt work
I go all the way to the right, turn around and hold down both left AND up. it still crashes

Wings of Fury for DOS is extremely sensitive to the speed of the CPU. Using a 80 MHz DOS based system, I use the tiny MOSLOW.COM software to slow it down to 15 % of its original speed (which probably brings my system down to a 12 MHz equivalent machine). Then the game runs normally, and you CAN take off (roll left to the stern of the carrier, then use full length of the runway before hitting UP arrow together with LEFT arrow). :ok:

I imagine the same applies when using a faster CPU - use a slow-down software to emulate a 12 MHz machine. ^_^

By the way, all games settings are accessible through Ctrl Q or Ctrl P etc. Try Ctrl combinations to find them.

And of course, "Enter" to launch the selected weapon, and "Space" to fire the plane's gun. :w00t:

Hold the left arrow in all the time. Then press up when you are close to the end. HOLD BOTH buttons down until you get a good height.

You might want to check out the official DosBox FAQ, and particularly this part of it. It is quite helpful for users unfamiliar with DosBox.

I suggest you also read the pages about command line, internal programs (very important!) and the config file.

If that stuff is a bit too much for you, you might consider using one of the multiple frontend programs available.

It's all easier then it seems. So remember:
DON'T PANIC!!! ^_^

I KNOW HOW TO TAKE OFF:
You need to slow down the game with Dos-Box (Ctrl F11)
else it won't work and you'll be trying to take off for ever!
When you slowed down the game just do what everyone
tells you to do: Just press LEFT and when you're near the
edge, press UP together with LEFT.

Just make sure you slow down the game first.
The game is based on seconds. It is programed to take
off AFTER you've pressed LEFT for a few seconds. The
problem is that when you didn't slow down the game you
will reach the edge before that time which makes it
impossible to take off.

I hope this information could help most people out!

Good luck!

It's impossible to target bunkers with bombs, you have to drop them at right time...I know it's difficult but.... try and try and try, that's the only way ^_^

You cannot destroy bunkers with bombs. They are only good for huts and those sandbag AAs. To fight bunkers you need rockets. And aiming with them is much harder than timing those bombs :(

Had the same problem, the wings.exe only worked through windows.
If you use the file called WOFE.EXE in DosBox it runs, alter the cycles once you manage to get off the plane, as its not as jerky in air as it can be leaving the ship.

As they said earlier just make sure you press left, then a couple of metres before the end press left and up.

Try WOFE.EXE in DosBox.

Hi all,

For DOSBox users,

please remember that this is a VERY OLD DOS game. Therefore, try not to run it at 10000 cycles. In fact, I had to tune my DOSBox to run at 1500 cycles, then my plane GETS TO TAKE OFF!

Otherwise you'll encounter than splash effect.

Do note though, at 1000 - 1500 cycles, the game is quite jerky ... but that's the way it works originally anyway.

Older games typically don't have smoothing frame calculations; they simply don't see the need to since those days, hardware was really limited...

For Windows Command Prompt users,

Sorry man.. DOSBox is probably the best way out.

I remember a cheat (on Amiga600), you had to write into the game "colin was here"...does anyone remember?
This game was impossible to finish, I dunno about Dos version but I've lost hours and hours playing it.
I was able to defeat 4 Japanese planes in air combat...ah it was great! :)
