I've been having trouble with a game called Stonekeep recently. I just installed it and I think it should run on my computer, but whenever I try to run it a screen comes up that says "OUT OF MEMORY allocating: cache memory (535237147 bytes). I do not know what this means. Whenever I try to run the file in Dosbox, called SK.bat, it says "illegal command E:\data.sk.exe". What does this mean? Is there anything I can do to fix this?
|
This game needs CD while playing!
I'm not sure, but I think you should do this: - run DosBox - mount d "game folder" - mount e e:\ - d: - sk Tell me did you manage to start the game. :ok: |
What version of Dosbox do I need for this? It didn't work correctly, it said I need to run Stonekeep from the CD. Or more likely I'm doing something wrong.
|
Try this:
- mount e e:\data - e: - cd data - sk If this wont work, I can't help you. Wait until Data shows up, or someone else who is good in this kind of stuff. |
It says I am unable to change to data once I mount E:. Sorry.

Download the newest DosBox version 0.63. It can mount CD drives without problems now.
Then use these commands, they should help: mount e: e: -t cdrom (the CD drive, another letter maybe) (install.exe there to install the game if it's not installed yet) mount c: c:/games/interplay (folder of the game installed) c: sk Tell please if this helped or not. |
the game probably works allright as long as you mount it correctly
just try running the exe instead of the bat file as the bat file contains a hard coded location. I'll try it myself later this week |
There unfortunately is no .exe.

The .exe is on the CD.
Sk.bat starts the EXE that's located on the CD. And the EXE on the CD uses the gamedata from CD. ;) |
i was having the same probs. heres what i did.
copied sk.exe from the cd data directory into the game directory. in dos box: mount d d:\ -t cdrom mount c c:\intrplay\stonkeep c: sk.exe this worked fine for me ~squashynose~ |
