I am planning to go on holiday to Slovenia or Croatia this year. Anyone knows places worth seeing and staying there?
I know this is not a 'game' topic, nevertheless I believe this is a good place to ask - so many members come from thehe countries... I will appreciate any info. |
Look around - almost the entire Blah section isn't about games!

Depends really what you're looking for, are you looking for partying, sight seeing, or just plain sunbathing?

Come to australia! its nice and warm this time of year. ish. But we got cool stuff here too. Like big rocks, and opera houses, and if you look hard enough you see my house. :ok: Ill be waving!!
|
Are you from the part of Australia where the people descend from criminals?
Anyway, I heard these countries are really cheap. A friend of mine went there and he eat goulash all the time. Poor basterd. |

Dunno anything 'bout either countries, except that if you'd go to Croatia, you've got to see the National Theatre in Zagreb. That is, unless you don't like outstanding architecture :P
|
You might as well come to Hungary ^_^ My university is in Veszprém, I'm here most of the time, but I live in Zalaegerszeg otherwise. I can tell you quite alot of things to see around here :ok: And My dorm is also a great Hotel*** so so staying here would be easy, and you can stay at my place in Zalaegerszeg too :ok:

yes it really depends on what you want to see. are you more interested in historic buildings or natural wonders? and also depends how you are traveling (by bus or by car - i don't recomend the train in Slovenia).
Here are some tourist destinations in Slovenia that are worth seeing: Town Ptuj and it's castle Logarska Valey - but only if you are with a car. the road is bad, but if weather is good it's worth going there Town Celje it's castle and regional museum (inside the town) (www.celje.si) Ljubljana - because it's a capital and has some interesting architecture. there in you can go to the castle (i recomend the 3D multimedia show about history of Ljubljana there), visit the national galery and well see the sites. it's it's warm you might want to visit one of the cafes in old part of town. (www.ljubljana.si) Bled - well pictures speak for themselves. (www.bled.si) Postojna Cave - ride with the train into the underworld. can be crowdy from tourists but very nice and very big (www.postojnska-jama.si) Coastal city of Piran - navigate the very narrow streets to reach the outer city walls and church. (www.piran.si) If you have time and interested in history it is also interesting to see Kobarid 1st WW museum and surroundings (www.kobarid.si) and if you want to relax a bit try one of many spa's - Therme Olimia (www.terme-olimia.com), Laško (www.zdravilisce-lasko.si), Moravske toplice (http://www.terme3000.si/home.php), Terme Čatež (www.terme-catez.si) and many more... If you are interested in WW 2 history you might want to see Begunje concentration camps, Partizan hospital Franja (fully operational & never discovered partisan hospital) and Base 20 (HQ deep in the forest). Croatia i recomend: Zagreb, Dubrovnik (old part of city), Split (emperor's palace), Pula (arena etc.) and i also susggest one of the islands. just for fun. :D |
