Man the graphics for the PC version are bad...
I remember playing this baby on my old Amiga 600 (ahh the days before PC domination) and that version could whop the PC ones behind! anyway, thanks for a great dose of nostalgia! |
Alot of thing whomped PCs back in the day. But that didn't matter. What mattered was everyone had one, so regarless of how bad it had to be, if you wanted to make sales you needed a PC version.
But for me, I prefer the MAME version. |
I must have pumped $50 worth of tokens in this bad boy at Aladins Castle in my local mall (alas it is gone now, replaced by Luca Pizza) and it took forever to beat. Still though, besides the MAME version, i still like the Genesis Robocop Vs Terminator. Better graphics and effects (BLOOD and GORE!!!) plus it added in my favorite movie villian, The Terminator! :tomato:

Game is mediocre, but at least worth a try. |
HOTU has also a fan remake, Robocop 2D. Similar gameplay, but looks (and sounds!) a whole hell better.
|
I'm surprised. You normally link to things like this 5thHM. Good point, tho.

Weird, I recall reviewing this game and sending it in. Back when Sebastianos was arranging things, he gave this game to me and put me on the reviewer list and notified Kosta about me being the person who's handling this game.
And now I see this reviewed by someone else? I am a little dissapointed here, but I'll just pick another game to review. This would've been my second. |

Two reviews were sent in and both were really good. I talked to Kosta about it and I was planing to make a special update with two reviews (Kosta didn't mind). But I guess he forgor (he was really busy about it). I remember leaving details about it in the updater's forums (but since I'm no longer an updater I can not check - nor could I have done it myself). My guess is, that the post I made sunk (because new ones were made) and the updater didn't know about what was happening with this game and its special case. I deeply apologise to you Jonesy. |
Not a big deal. There will be a soluton to this comming up...
|
There IS one, actually. Vide Community Reviews forum.
Feel free to post your review there, Jonesy. |
That's what's going to happen and then we'll use the extras section to link to it.
I just got finished playing the Arcade version and Robocop 2d. The arcade version was clearly designed to suck quarters. But Robocop 2d was very cool. Clips from the movie, better gameplay, I could really dig it. Check that one out. |
corrupt zip file?
I can't extract the zip file. Tried with Winrar and without, I get error messages about it being invalid, corrupt etc.
:dunno: |

Robocop 2D
I just tried "Robocop 2D" aswell, it was great especially the music. Though I found it perhaps a bit linear compared to other versions. No climbing stairs or jumping, what is he a friggin Dalek? Also, what's the deal with Robocop being so short!

No sound in DOSBox .74
I have no sound in this game. I tried various bitrates and CPU presets.
M key in game changes graphic modes, but there is still no sound. Code:

For some reason I have never heard of this game :P I believe it's one of those bad license games?
|
There are even two different RoboCop games. One was made by Ocean Software for computer market (it is this game), and I found it quite good - at least it was on my Spectrum. :) Several gameplay modes, multi-level stages, etc.
Second was made by the Data East, and target for arcades (it's this one). It was ported to computers too. And it's this version that available on site. Funny enough, regardless of Ocean copyright, and clearly visible in Apple II screenshot "Licensed from Ocean Software Ltd." mark, Moby said that it's first, Ocean version "adapted from arcade one". :) And boxshots definitely messed between this two games. Huh. ...A-and no, there are _three_ games. Commodore boxshots shown version identical to NES (and Giant Bomb text confirms it), but actual screenshots all relates to Ocean version! There is some mystery here for sure! :) |
Very cool! I’ve seen that both OST from the Old Movie and the new Movie are available on Spotify. :music:
So, like me, the Staff must have liked some Musics, because they used variations of them in several ways: 01) In the Original Movie: • Drive Montage; • Helpless Woman; • Rock Shop; • Across the Board - End Credits. 02) In the new Movie: • Title Card. |
I forgot to mention the song Robo & ED 209 Fight in which there was the epic Robocop battle. I was impressed when the visor of his Helmet was damaged and one of his eyes was very visible and perceptible... :omg: :o
Beyond the cry of the ED 209 Fight when he got stuck in the staircase... :crybaby: The movie is very old, but it was cool! Long live the Cyber-Bonk! :kuger:Bonk! Bonk! Bonk! :chair: Whoops! I mean, Cyber-Punk! :kuger: :umm: :whistling: |
