Does the Song "kill me with your gun" really exist, or it was only made for the game?

Tom Henrik 03-05-2004 09:56 PM

All the music in the game was produced by Jonathan "Jon" Jools" Hare and Richard Joseph.

You could buy a seperate cd with only the music from the game, but as far as I know... these cd's do not exist today.

You can, however, download the music from the net.

LotharGR 03-05-2004 10:00 PM

I Suppose that Kazaa or anything like it would help.... :)

Tom Henrik 03-05-2004 10:07 PM

Not really.

The best way is to visit this site:

LotharGR 03-05-2004 10:11 PM

thanks a lot! really! i was searching for this song :) :)

Tom Henrik 03-05-2004 10:28 PM

Ok?..

That site just crashed... :(

Try this one instead. (You might even get some ideas for other old games to play).

Thanks again :)

Jops 21-10-2004 05:29 AM

actually I got the handle I use in any on-line game from Cannon-Fodder. Played it as a kid and always loved it, will never forget. However I never ever got the sound to work so I have no idea what the fx or the music is like to this day.

FreeFreddy 21-10-2004 11:41 AM

Did you play the game in DosBox? You can get it from this site. With it you shouldn't have any problems with sound and music. And don't forget to set the music to some MIDI card if such setting is available there (is quite some time that I played that game), it sounds better. ;)

Iron_Scarecrow 21-10-2004 11:46 AM

This is a great game. I really got into it on gameboy and sega. But not on the computer, there are just too many other games on computer that you can't play on gameboy or sega.

Martin 21-10-2004 08:15 PM

Oooh, this game's kinda cool.

But, da number 2 is better...

FreeFreddy 21-10-2004 08:56 PM

Actually, I think the graphic is worse in part 2.

Crystal_sword 02-11-2004 06:38 AM

Crystal_sword 04-11-2004 08:45 PM

Yes, take the soldier who's by himself and run him into the rest of the squad :ok:

Tinman 05-05-2005 10:36 PM

I played Cannon Fodder alot as a kid, but on Amiga 500. I loved it! I just hate myself for selling my Amiga, the best games I've ever played I played on Amiga.

Gaz 14-05-2005 01:48 AM

Yeah this game was amazing, i will always remember that demo for the Amiga 500+, i got it on a magazine, and couldn stop playing. can't get this to download though, can do it on freeware, but you dont get any sound and only half the missions.

WoodwilL 09-06-2005 12:39 AM

Actually the War intro song did play on the 3DO version I had.

Pulvertoast 08-07-2005 12:34 PM

Hmm... the I have sound problems.
It stutters... don't know why. :(

Nikita 19-07-2005 02:18 PM

It is a very clever game, due to its silliness, I guess. Everything - graphics, sound, gameplay is working on the idea - that war is bad.
The only screen with new recruits with the graves on the background gives me the creeps even now.
BtW, I cant spot the main title song .. Where is it exactly?

Guest 21-07-2005 09:31 PM

Guest_dan asked how to reunite your squad after someone has been on solo. My question is the opposite: How can you separate a soldier from his group? I used to play this game a lot when I was a kid, but I can't remeber how it goes.

Guest 22-08-2005 11:44 AM

loading the game sucks!!! i got to mission 10 with jools and jops still alive, they each had like a 1000 kills and were highly promoted. then when i typed in the code to load the game it starts at mission 10. but jools and jops have no kills and are ranked the lowest you can.
that sucks, so to play it with jools and jops getting promoted and with alot of kills you have to play it through in one go!

Guest 22-08-2005 12:08 PM

ok and another thing, that link to the music wont work for me, i have downloaded but my computer wont play it after ive unzipped it. does anybody have the actual file of the song, that would be amazing.

cheers

Guest 07-09-2005 09:29 PM

I don't thikn the song was in the PC version.

Zachu 13-10-2005 10:37 AM

I used to play this on Amiga too :) I remember it has some good song but don't remember how it goes... Gotta download that song from http://amigames.soundbomb.net/music/richar...nnon_fodder.zip when I get home :)

Click on the soldiers you want to separate. Then click the logo (eagle/snake or something like that) above the granade/soldiers/bazooka pic. That shoudl do it :)

I haven't tried loading the game with PC, but I remember I had Amiga save sometimes where I had Jools and Jops and Stoo with high ranks and kills and almost the last missions. The ranks stayed atleast in the Amiga-version.

Zachu 17-10-2005 01:45 PM

ok, that zip had those songs in really weird format, but abandonia has this main theme in mp3-format. Just check it under the music-section.

Sanguinor 07-01-2006 04:04 PM

*bounces* I freaking love this game! :D :D :D

My dad took it off my PC when I was younger though :( He hates the sounds.

The game isnīt bad but the soldiers are very small. If you like such games, try Assault Trooper with better 3D isometric graphics.

Hi
I really want to try this game, but when I download it my Avast antivirus says the zip contains a virus/malware, called "PS/MPC-Gen 3" and therefore I can't install it. Maybe this is an anti-virus error but you might want to check the file.

great site btw

That is a fine game indeed. Both have their charms, but you enjoyed Cannon Fodder you will enjoy Assault Trooper.

It also has much better missions IMO

Guest 18-03-2006 12:27 PM

This is really getting on my nerves so any constructive help would be greatly appreciated.

I know how to use dosbox (a bit), ive got things like Syndicate and Flashback running fine. Trouble is that when i try to install this using dosbox 0.63 it tells me to insert disk CANNON 1 into drive A. There's an ok box below it but pressing 'O' or enter doesnt do anything. How am i supposed to install this coz running it via the .exe directly results in no sound! :wall:

Ive setup my dosbox folders exactly as it says in the dosbox tutorial.

Any help would be great

Gamefreak 18-03-2006 01:37 PM

Ever thought that you don't need to install it somewhere but just to run the game? Run the install.exe or setup.exe or whatever is there to set up your sound and music only, that's it.

Guest 07-04-2006 10:25 PM

I think the file had a virus.

You might want to check on the rest of your computer.

Umm...I seem to have a problem with this download. I try to download it, it seems to download okay...until it gets to around the end, then Firefox tells me that "D:\DOS\Downloads\Cannon Fodder.zip.part could not be saved because the source file could not be read."

Data 20-04-2006 06:11 AM

Try again. It downloaded fine at my place.

Guest 20-04-2006 10:42 AM

Tried it at college. Downloaded fine...must have been an error my end at home.

Guest 20-04-2006 06:27 PM

For some reason I can't copy the file over to my HDD, and the file keeps messing up when downloading at home.

The Fifth Horseman 21-04-2006 09:54 AM

Do you get an error message when copying?

Hired Gunz 24-04-2006 02:12 AM

I read somewhere else when i dl'd this a few months it has a backdoor virus not really sure on correct terminology, my other comp is messed up now, not sure if its to do with that or not but jus thought i should say something

Seeker 01-05-2006 11:27 AM

Could you guys give me some info about the useful keys in C.Fodder? I mean, if they are such ones, for example to change the weapons or to switch between two groups of soldiers.

BTW, I've got one important question: is it possible to come back to the main manu (the hill, soldiers in a que and save/load options) while on a mission? Similar question: how to reutrn to DOS/DOSBox in other way than Alt+F4?

Icewolf 02-05-2006 08:00 AM

Cannon Fodder is from the old Amiga times. I don't think that there are hotkeys, since it was special those days to have a game controlled by mouse only.
But I don't really know... :tomato:

mjuky 03-05-2006 07:28 PM

why does it ask me to insert disk to drive a:\?

Mighty Midget 03-05-2006 11:09 PM

I use dos-box/XP. No SB sound card. Full sound BUT: From my Amiga days I think I remember this intro song going "war has never been so much fun...". It's not here. Is my memory acting up on me or is it supposed to be here?

Hypersniper 08-05-2006 09:45 AM

Not sure if the PC version has the song. I'm playing the game using WinAUE and war has never been so much fun. :ok:
Lost Jops on phase 4 of mission 4 right at the end. :wall: Time for revenge. :ranting:

Misfit 25-05-2006 12:23 AM

I'm still having trouble firing grenades, it's been so long since I played this game!

holding the left mouse button and then clicking the right isnt doing anything, (nor is holding the right button and clicking the left..)

It's getting a little frustrating.. :ranting:

Storm 25-05-2006 02:15 AM

It's meant to be hold the right button, then press the left button. Doing vice versa will move you, then shoot. It works fine for me.

Mighty Midget 25-05-2006 12:26 PM

Just an addition to that: I sometimes find that rclick->lclick doesn't do anything. It's not consistent, and I've just accepted that I need a little bit of luck to toss grenades.

Not all games for the Amiga are better than their PC ports, but in this case you are absolutely correct.

The Fifth Horseman 29-05-2006 12:16 PM

And BTW, that "go to your brother, kill him with your gun" tune is supposedly from the Amiga version. I think I had my MOD file with it from HOTU, but checking World of Game Mods (www.mirsoft.info) wouldn't be a bad idea either.

It is from the Amiga version. It was written and sung by Jon "Jops" Hare. Tell me - are there vocals in the PC version of the title tune, as I can only seem to get the damn game working at college and I keep getting an error when I try to download it at home (which is weird because every other game downloads perfectly and I can only download this at the college I'm studying at...)

The Fifth Horseman 30-05-2006 10:12 AM

I remember trying to play this game once ago (when I still had my 486), and there were no vocals in the theme song.

Come on, show them who is boss.

Elon Yariv 18-06-2006 12:58 AM

I chalange that. The late levels are usally so very easy! Many times you just take hold of a tank and destroy everything. Not to mention the missle helicopters that and nearly indistructable, it's only hard with that kind of helicopter in the level with the master computer.

Anyways the hostages sure are dumb, so dumb that I got tired of them and stopped playing.

E-Magination 27-07-2006 01:19 PM

For some reason its not working for me. The mouse moved WAAAAY too fast when it ran, and now it quits when trying too skip the intro movie.

The Fifth Horseman 27-07-2006 01:30 PM

Are you using DosBox?

BranjoHello 05-08-2006 12:06 PM

Cannon Fodder is a SUPER game but I just can't pass level with those bazooka guys

Scatty 05-08-2006 01:59 PM

Yeah, that's where you have to be a real Cannon Fodder freak and try for weeks to manage it. The game becomes in later levels quite unworthy the effort as far too hard, so you either cheat, spend weeks to figure a single level out to details or simply forget it.

Storm 02-09-2006 07:57 PM

I had this problem. It downloaded the majority of the file, then seemed to say that there's something wrong when it gets to 99%. I just retried the download (after several months...) and it managed to download...although I'm probably going to download it for Amiga, just because the DOS version doesn't include the lyrics...and I'm an Amiga fan.

kanko-lango 03-09-2006 05:22 PM

Gennerally i love this game, but i hate when i get many level into the game, to a place in the ice-level.
You have to jump over a forrest, with a snomobile...... i hit the forrest all the time
Also a little later, where you have to do the same thing, and on the other side som guy with a Bazooka waits..... and you have to be very quick to jump out of the snow-mobile.... VERY QUICKLY.... i wasted 25+ men before i finally got him.
If anyone remembers this problem, have anyone found a way to avoid or kill the Bazooka-guy easier???

Storm 05-09-2006 08:34 PM

Erm...recently did a virus scan and CANNON.EXE was found to contain the virus/worm PS/MPC-gen3 (Cannon Fodder downloaded from this site)...please tell me that's meant to be there >_>

Goodguy3 14-10-2006 09:01 PM

hmmm..any idea how i could get the sound effects to work?

The Fifth Horseman 16-10-2006 01:15 PM

Umm... DosBox?

Dead Cell 17-10-2006 12:54 AM

Hello guys, first of a brilliant site and I'm DEAD New! I've installed this classic game on DosBox and it works fine except when playing it in full screen mode, it cuts off some of the top and bottom frame and the sides too!

When in the main menu where all the soldiers come strolling down the hill, I see them coming down it but as they get to the bottom of the screen they dissapear out of view so I guess it cuts off a lot of the screen in full screen mode. However it works fine in its normal window.

Anyone else with this problem or know how to resolve it?

I've tries changing my screen resolution in PROPERTIES without any luck!

Thanks in advance to anyone who may be able to help.

The Fifth Horseman 17-10-2006 02:09 PM

Go to Dosbox.conf.

Where it says fullresolution=original, change it to say fullresolution=640x480.

E-Magination 21-10-2006 09:31 AM

By the way, yes, the mouse acts weird in both Dosbox AND Windows itself. Adjusting settings only makes it worse. After a while, the game stopped running at all. Recently, avast! anti virus gave a positive on the Exe file.

And yes, I downloaded it here. 3 times.

GUEST 06-01-2007 11:12 PM

Sorry, Abandonia only hosts the main theme in t3h mp3-format.

trepach 09-06-2007 05:23 PM

Aaah finally I've got it! Just need to setup the game from DosBox and then start it.

keremix 09-06-2007 09:41 PM

i used to play this on my amiga 600... i was very impressed by the way soldiers died LOL

Scatty 10-06-2007 08:05 AM

The version on Amiga had better graphics than the PC version, though.

You don't need to install the game, actually. =) Just use dosbox and enter the install prompt. Select Configure>Sound, select Soundblaster Pro and set Interrupt to IRQ7, leave everything else the way it is, then in Configure>Music also select Soundblaster, then exit and save settings. You may then use dosbox to play the game from the CANNON.EXE file without installing it, with full sound and music and everything. =) :max:

This game has a virus...Avast! antivirus has detected it while I was downloading it...itÂīs a worm. Luckily Avast! has aborted the operation. No one has realized it?

Scatty 28-08-2007 03:33 AM

It doesn't mean anything. The world editor in Dungeon Keeper Gold for example is also detected as some WIN95 virus with Avira's Antivir, but that doesn't mean it is, too. Just some strange issues with the modern anti-virus programs.

zlilha 27-11-2007 05:37 PM

Well, I got the game working but my mouse just go crazy when the game enter in combat mode, the cursor jumps to the border of the screen no matter how I move it... and of course in the install thingie only got mouse option for controller.

What can I do? Iīm ussing DosBox with D-Fence in a winXP.

Try to check "auto lock mouse" in the D-Fend game configuration. Maybe this might fix it...

Tseki 02-12-2007 09:06 PM

I remember Cannon Fodder 1 and 2 =) Hours of fun back then !

energizer 31-05-2008 01:51 AM

Hey I don't know if anybody else had this problem but when I first tried The game the mouse wouldn't stay in place. If anybody else has this problem all you gotta do is edit the profile and in "general" click on auto lock mouse.

doomknight 24-03-2009 11:28 AM

how do i re-join squads?

Frodo 24-03-2009 02:26 PM

Cannon Fodder is now being sold at GOG for $5.99. :)

The Fifth Horseman 24-03-2009 02:39 PM

Download removed, thanks for the heads-up.

BranjoHello 31-03-2009 01:20 PM

And what now?
Since they sell downloads and not tactile copies at GoG's this can be sold forever...it just sucks!

The Fifth Horseman 31-03-2009 01:58 PM

At least as long as GoG exists. We'll see how it turns out.
At any rate, anything that makes these games legally available is good. :)

Mission 8 / turrets

Hi everyone,

it seems enemy turrets can't be destroyed by rocket or grenade fire in this version. I got stuck at mission 8 phase 2 ("In at the deep end") where I fired several rockets and grenades at a turret but it wasn't destroyed. I think this is a bug - or whatever you wanna call it. Anyway I think the game is impossible to finish with this problem. I've seen videos on youtube with other platforms (snes) and they can destroy turrets with a simple grendade/rocket.

Did anyone encounter the same problems or am I doing something wrong?

/myname

That's mission 9 phase 2 in my version (the map where you start on a small island with two boxes of grenades).

Anyway, I have finished that mission a few times. There has to be something wrong with your version of the game. I can destroy the turrets with grenades and/or missiles.

myname 18-08-2010 09:07 AM

Thanks

Thanks for your answer, zirkoni. At least I know now that it's not a special "fetature" of the game's PC version.

Dave 11-09-2010 11:52 AM

Yup, it's a bug, however the CD version isn't affected by this issue. I managed to go ahead without problems :)

Haven't finished it yet though, final missions make you crazy XD

Why don't my dead heroes get a tombstone?

cannon fodder 1 & 2 and windows 7

has anyone tried both and had them working on windows 7 please

The Fifth Horseman 25-09-2011 05:43 PM

They're DOS games. To run them on Windows 7 you need to use DOSBox: http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/showthread.php?t=22241

recently i've played the cd version of this game and the missions are quite different from the shareware versioni used to play as a teen. previously i thought the full version would just add more missions to the shareware version. for example , in the shareware, you start in the snow mission where you have to find some grenades to blow up all the houses to beat the mission. but in the cd version it starts with a very simple kill-everyone vietnam mission.

did anyone else here play the shareware and still have a copy of it?

btw, i remember it was possible to "unlock" extra missions in the shareware. can't remember how i did it. i think i pressed excape during the helicopter animation on the last shareware mission or something. anyways i can vaguely remember that i unlocked an indoor "eton" mission, and a rather tricky vietnam mission that was full of trap ready to spear or explode your men.

Scatty 16-02-2014 05:51 PM

You play the mission(s) in the snow landscape (Reykjavik) in the full version too, only you arrive there later and not from the beginning. The shareware version was primarily designed to preview the diversity of the game, hence why you place various missions in it, which you move slower to in full version. Same with the Vietnam missions which you arrive to later, though it's more through progression than any particular unlocking method.
You just have to play on and develop enough patience to persist until later, as the game can very often drive you nuts with with it's steep difficulty.

Tseki 14-03-2017 04:30 PM

Just listen to this music, isn't this awesome or what :max:
