Well the controls are quite terrible.

guesst 11-07-2006 02:57 PM

I am so pumped to see this game. I have got to e-mail my sister about it. We used to play it together for hours. Beat the shareware version anyways.

But which sisiter was it? Ah well, I'll e-mail them both.

.:Edit:. Now this is what it's all about:
"Pharaoh's Tomb uses a very high speed proprietary animation system called FAST (Fluid Animation Software Technology). It was created by Micor F/X software to take advantage of the new 286/386 IMB's while still allowing intricate animation on older 8-bit IBM's."

It's funny cause it's true!

yeeaaah! I've been looking for this all my life! Me and my sister used to play it when we were really young, but we called it 'ptomb', after the file name, I never knew the name and didn't know where to look. Thank you! :D

:brain:

HAHAHA!

Me and my sister were also calling this game ptomb for obvious reasons! Ah, the memories...Looked better in the monochrome monitor though...

guesst 15-07-2006 02:04 PM

This apparently is a game alot of people played with their sister.

Guest 15-07-2006 03:32 PM

Was it not this game, Radal Graves talked about in the Clerks uncensured Cartoons from 2000???
You know the cartoon made by Kevin Smith on the basis on his debut-film from 1994??

Guest 17-07-2006 08:33 AM

too bad it is a trial version, though. Was fun seeing it back anyhow :)

Guest 27-07-2006 02:28 AM

Are you sure it's a trial? It seems to have all four episodes, I think only the first was free. I may be wrong though, it's been a long time since I played this (last time was on a state of the art Zenith 286 destkop).

Now I need to try and figure out what my login name was, I haven't been to Abandonia in a long time either. :)

The Fifth Horseman 27-07-2006 11:36 AM

We don't put up demos on Abandonia.

This is the full version. To play ep2 you just type ptomb2.exe. Ep3 is ptomb3.exe. Ep4 is ptomb4.exe.

And let me tell you, I beat ep2, but the levels in ep3 and 4 are diabolically difficult (read "suck"). I gave up half way through ep3, tried a few levels of ep 4 and decided it wasn't worth it. Unless someone shows me a screenshot of some boss at the end of the game that I'm missing out on or some gameplay dynamic that they haven't revealed yet I'm done with this game.

kralamut 28-07-2006 03:59 PM

Are any of you fans of Kevin Smiths movies??
Have any one seen Clerks the animated series from 2000?? In there Randal Graves talks about a game very similar to this game in name and gameplay??
Is it the same Game?

That's very interesting, because I found the second episode the hardest. The third was quite a bit easier and the fourth was a walk in the park.

This looks exactly like the Monuments of Mars games, but I don't see those an here...:( Does anyone know where to find them? [My sister and I used to play that one a lot :amused: (looks like I'm keeping in theme with the sister thing )

The Fifth Horseman 07-08-2008 10:16 AM

Monuments of Mars has been discontinued by Apogee.
I believe the shareware version is floating somewhere around, and perhaps could get the full one too.

HotU has it.

Akira 22-08-2008 02:51 AM

Awesome, thanks!

My sister says that she remembers this game (or a game very similar to it), but the colors were different: cyan, magenta, white and black. Is there a different version of this game with those colors? She says she remembers you bing a man in a hat--looking exactly like your character in Pharaoh's Tomb. She also remembers rolling boulders and some sections where the ground is ice and you slide on it. The screen layout (with the stats at the bottom of the screen) and the sound effects are exactly like she remembers, but she's positive about the different colors. I only remember it vaguely, but I do recognize the masked enemies (the heads with legs) from the screenshots.

Anyone have any ideas? Maybe a similar game? I'll post/edit this post if my sister or I remember anything else.

dosraider 22-08-2008 05:30 AM

The difference in 'colors' can come from the monitor or old graphics card that you had then.

Akira 22-08-2008 05:36 AM

But our Monuments of Mars game (made with the same platform and graphics) has the same colors as this version, with the red, green, black, and orange... What would make Pharaoh's Tomb different?

dosraider 22-08-2008 05:39 AM

Questions questions questions .... pffffffffffffffffffffff.

Another version? Who knows.

Akira 22-08-2008 08:10 AM

Found it!

AHA! I found the game my sister was thinking of! (I actually found it quite by accident) It's called "Arctic Adventure". Pretty much the same deal as Pharaoh's Tomb... http://www.dosgames.com/screens/aa.gif I found it at www.dosgames.com
Ahh...now that I see it, it's all coming back to me...

arete 22-08-2008 10:03 AM

Is it just me

Or does this game closely resemble Montezuma's Revenge?

I wonder if it was a clone, or was Monte a clone of something else. Mmmm, deep question. Perhaps we'll never know :weird:

No wonder it's kinda the same as Pharao's Tomb:

Almost all the platformers from that era had similar layout/gameplay.

makis 30-08-2008 07:57 AM

The first game i've played on my PC back in 1992. Ahhhh memories....
I'm working on a remake with new levels. It's still a long way for release though..
