I guys I have Fire foxnow its the greatest thing since sliced bread and if you still mainly use internet explorer take the leap to using fire fox. i used to refuse to use it you know.

It's the BEST.

For XP, that is.

See I use Abvant Browser, which is a hyped up skin over Internet Explorer. So while I'm actually using Internet Explorer I am so taken by the functionality of Avant that I can't bring myself to migrate the Fire Fox.

FF is obviously safer than IE, but Opera beats both in most aspects.

I'm with this guy ^^^^

Opera pwns the latest browsers. It combines quick load times with full functionality. YOu have email, newsfeeds, search, notepad, chat client, and now the best thing yet, Bit Torrent search and downloading. :P

When get a browser, I want a browser. Not something which have everything else included inside it.

It's the same problem with anti-virus nowadays: when I buy an anti virus, I want the program to control the virus and that's all. I don't want it to be at the same time a firewall, to control spywares, take control of my computer, etc...

Japo 27-07-2006 03:56 AM

You don't have to use Op's additional features if you don't want to. I used Op for a long time before discovering them, and I was hugely satisfied after having been using FF; but once I found about them I was delighted. And come on, at least being able to read your feeds without opening a separate program is handy indeed, if you ever read feeds.

Now if you think that these additions make Op heavier and more awkward than FF, think again. FF's code is hugely inefficient and it doesn't manage or care about freeing the memory it occupies over time (actually minutes). That was the chief reason I changed to Op in the first time, because then I had only 64 Mb or RAM. With FF I had to bear with huuuge dealys while virtual HD memory was read and written; with Op I was able to navigate in decent conditions for the first time, with only 64 Mb. This is not the only issue I had with FF. And even if you've got tons of RAM to spare, Op is much faster than FF, and this has been established by independent trials.

Firefox is the browser I am using right now. Not bad.

Opera's worth using simply because it autosaves on exit. Saved me countless times when I was randomly browsing and had a window randomly close.

Avant Browser does that if you tell it to. If AB closes abruptly it will always ask you if you want to try to re-open the folders you had open.

AB also has a "open all links in folder" option in your favorates menu. Love this aspect

AB also uses your IE favorates. Make system migration easier.

Firefox is so last year.

Opera rules!

Quintopotere 27-07-2006 06:06 PM

I'm still using Mozilla :tomato:

One day I have to try its "spiritual heir": it should be called Sea Monkey, or something similar...

win98 27-07-2006 07:17 PM

Fire fox is not slow on my system i installed the fasterfox addon it boosts the speed.

Japo 27-07-2006 07:29 PM

I'm not saying FF's slow, that's relative. Anyway, about speed, here's a useful link:

Opera just kicks every other's behind in Windows:

I was used to IE and didn't ever think about changing it. At last, I couldn't hold against that Firefox stuff going around and installed it. Now I HATE Internet Explorer! Opening windows in tabs, highly impressive add-ons, abitility to add search engines(IMDB,eBay) etc are all user friendly features of Firefox. I installed some add-ons, FlashGot, NoScript, IE Tab, StumbleUpon, PDF Download, Temporary Inbox, FormFox and Abandonia Toolbar (perfect, thanks to the contributor). The only consideration is that Firefox takes longer time start (even without add-ons). It's ok since I won't need to open another window once it is started.

Cloudy 12-08-2006 11:37 PM

Firefox all the way for me.

IE just.. sucks.

Opera just.. sucks also. I tried it for a month or so and really didn't like it. Possibly liked it less than IE actually.

Mighty Midget 12-08-2006 11:41 PM

I use FF, and am quite happy with it. I can't say it's a gift from Heaven above, but I like it. Plain and simple. At least, a know-nothing like me can at least avoid a fair share of them pop-ups. That's good enough for me.

win98 14-08-2006 03:25 AM

Fire fox stuffed up on my system i have to use IE until i can fix it.
