Since you Abandon-heads seem to be a diverse lot, I'm curious: What sort of movies (if any) do you like?
For me, I'd say just about anything tagged as 50's, drive-in, monster, Hammer Prod., or later splatter/humour flicks. Favourites: (50's/60's) She Demons, Trollenberg Terror, It Came From Outer Space, The Creature From The Black Lagoon, Plan 9 From Outer Space, Batman The Movie. (Sorry, can't decide on the BEST of these) Splatter comedy: Only 3 ever made in my book: Bad Taste, Brain Dead and Starship Troopers (not a comedy as such, I know. But it still is a laughable riot). EDIT: How could I forget the Noirs? :wallbash: D.O.A. and M are forever gems! |
Hmmm... I tend to like 80's movies, actually pretty much everything 80's, but also i like most sci-fi stuff (Back to the Future :brain: ). I like to watch horror movies, and i categorize them as comedy because they're so lame :) . My most favourite movie ever is Blues Brothers, closely followed by the Rocky Horror Picture Show and the Wedding Singer. As you can see music plays a largish role in deciding the movies i enjoy :) .

All the Rambo Movies. :rifle:
|
Mindless action flicks (David, Rambo rocks my world), violent horror/gore/zombie/slasher flicks, mostly low budget excessive gore stuff, but also some big budget stuff (ie George Romero), Sci-fi, classic comedy (Most comedy films these days suck royal anus), ie Blues Brothers, Happy Gilmore, etc. Sci-fi, Back To The Future, I would agree, is a fantastic series. I like how they managed to make all of the films just as cool as the one before. I would say that all of the people who posted before have excellent taste in movies :D. Oh, and I'm gonna have to agree with a previous poster's favourite AGAIN and say - Rocky Horror Picture Show - WOW. Go Tim Curry.

Book to movie films are always my favorite.
They seem to have had a lot more luck than the game to movie films, they've got all the best ones too, I mean you got The Shining for Horror, and then there's One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest for Drama, also Bubba Hotep for Comedy, We Were Soldiers is a nice Action/War movie fix, and you even have 2001 for your Sci-Fi needs (and if you're less picky than the usual, Dune is a decent movie as well). There's like a perfect movie for each genre :D |

Call me a squeamish cry-baby ^_^ but with the exception of the later F13s (which are just hilarious), I don't cope very well with those slashers. I need the exploding sheeps and lawnmowers :tomato: LOL To the others: I spot some pretty great films there (One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest for starters), but generally I appreciate the turkeys more than the 'serious' movies. I guess it's about appreciating the effort rather than the actual result. |

You're watching the wrong movies Blackh0le
|
The good ones. :whistling:
(I'm serious.) |
Well, the first NoES sort of freaked me out (I was so young  LOL), but the rest of them are a riot, Freddy Krüger raising hell. Also, the Hellraiser movies are quite cool (Pinhead being one of the coolest bad guys in movie history: Just watch him stride up to the altar while all the windows explode as he walks past them!). But the horror movies I really like, are the Evil Dead series, with the 2nd as a fav. The 1st is neat, but I like the fun in the other two. Ok, the 3rd isn't a horror movie. Sue me :bleh:
Comedy: Of course, Mel Brooks has made a couple of really great movies: Silent Movie, Spaceballs. But then again, he has made some really lame ones as well: Men In Tights, just to mention one. Monty Python made some of the funniest movies ever, but Meaning Of Life was close to abysmal, imo. The only reasons I remember that flick are the disgusting man at the restaurant and the Death sequence. 'Serious' ones (aka Dramas): Ironweed was nice for one view, but I'm really not sure if I'd care to watch it again. Down By Law is one of the very few I still could watch again. The ending is priceless. The fact that I remember so few dramas ought to tell you something :whistling: |
Nationall lampoon
:hysterical: |
I like all the Back to the Future saga...Star Wars saga too....Superman 1 and 2.... Batman 1 and 2....
All sci fiction! |
This is an eclectic mix. Some of it is remembered from my younger days and some of it is thinking of films that I could watch without traumatising my children, too much.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the children's Bond movie (story written by Ian Fleming, produced Albert (Cubby) Broccoli (sp?), with a dashing hero who drives an amazing tricked out car that he gets from a character played by Desmon LLewelyn (sp?), who crosses swords with a villian played by Gert Froeb). The rest of the Bond films with the exception of Never Say Never Again and the ones that I have yet to see (all the post-Dalton ones, except Goldeneye). Some have weak stories, but they are all good romps. The Bond parodies starring James Coburn as Flint. I think that there are three of them, but I can only remember two titles: In Like Flint and Our Man Flint. The Untouchables, if only for the shootout at the train station. A Christmas Carol, but only the black and white version of the film starring Alistar Simm. Not that the others are bad, but that Alistar Simm does it so well. Chicken Run, Curse of the Were-Rabbit, and anything else Aardman animations has done. 2001: A Space Odyssey. Do not try to understand, just watch it. Even numbered Star Trek films. Wrath of Kahn has combat and brings back an interesting character from the series. The Voyage Home (?) (number IV) is just fun, much like the more lighthearted episodes(Gary Seven and The Trouble With Tribbles). The Undiscovered Country is a nice venture into intrigue and conspiracy. Monty Python's Meaning of Life is worth the price of admission/rental just to see the companion feature. There are funny bits in the film, but they tried too hard to do shock humor and, unfortunately, much of it merely shocked. However, the companion feature, and the songs are worth watching and the magic of the DVD's random access allows you to only watch funny bits that have stood the test of time. Monty Python's Life of Brian and Monty Python and the Holy Grail are must see's. Anything by Hayao Miyazaki. Many of his films can be watched by the whole family, all of whom will be entertained. The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I could add more, but these are the first ones to come to mind. |

i would have to say action/adventure flicks, and also comedies with the f-word used alot. but mostly, if it just has some serious behind-kickery in it, some bloodshed, and a sex scene, im good. i also like another type of movie, and because of its content, i cant say in a public forum. oh well, unless your a total idiot you know wat im talking about.
im not a good person, am i? |
By the sound of your other choice of movies, I just cannot imagine what exactly is the content of this unspoken movie genre, but i bet it's not the sort of thing you'd show a 1 year old. Or over.
|
Primarily anime (not the hentai sub-genre, mind you). Ghost in the Shell, Appleseed and so on.
I actually enjoy very few live action movies, dunno why. Underworld is one of very few exceptions. |

Cartoons: Actually, I would rather watch Tom & Jerry, Daffy and Bugs Bunny than the overwhelming, vast majority of today's feature movies. Those old cartoons are great. Anime? I haven't seen much of that, I've read a couple of mangas, but I just didn't get it. I thought the same about anime. It's not bad, but I simply don't get it. :wallbash: Beside, after reading the manga backwards, I'm supprised the anime reels don't run backwards too  ^_^ |
well, actually its illegal for a 1-year old to watch, and for everyone else under 18 too, if you catch my drift
|
my brother and my cousins they all older and give me to see Bud Spencer & Terence Hill films who are great fun :w00t:
but I love new film like Xmen2 or Zorro2 who is action and very fun :w00t: |

Same here, too. I think most of this sort of films resort to such retarded kind of gags simply because they need something to cover up the underdeveloped plot and utter lack of any semblance of sense. Now, comedies like Police Academy or Ghost Busters... well, that's something entirely different. |
now why would you want to know that, hmmm?
|
Waking Life, Melvin goes to Dinner, and such.
|
I don't watch that much movies really, but my favourites are :
Everything from Lynch, Hitchcock and Month Python. Star Wars, Fargo, Blade Runner, Silence of the Lambs. Films from books : One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, The Name Of The Rose, A Clockwork Orange, Jean de Florette + Manon des Sources. |

Actually, that would be one side effect :)
But mostly, it may be interesting to see what people prefer. You might see someone enjoying the same stuff as you do. |
By the way, another Anime reccomendation: the new Hellsing OAV, also known by some as Hellsing Ultimate OAV. Nice plot, awesome soundtrack, killer visuals.
|
I like a lot of different stuff. Everything from 80's action (just for the hell of it) to old silent stuff like nosferatu. I never see much movies thats not at least 5-10 years old though. There's more total crap than good stuff coming out these days... :(
I like Star Wars a lot too, mainly the old trilogy but also episode III. I and II were medicore at best imho. I watch some anime stuff too, but not much. Ghost In The Shell and Akira would have to be my favourites from that genre. I'd say my favourite for the moment is the Lynch stuff, especially Mulholland Drive, Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks. And of course all the strange Norwegian stuff like Svidd Neger, Johhny Vang, Den Brysomme Mannen and Naboer. What is it with Norwegian films and weird men ? :P |
