The Niles 06-11-2004 10:33 PM

First of all let me explain the rules of this quiz. There are five questions that need to be answered. Some of the questions are harder to answer then others. The winner is determined by having all five answers correct (a winner is picked randomly if there is a tie). If no contestents have five correct answeres then the person with the most number of correct answeres wins (again a random winner is picked should there be a tie). PM your answeres to me in a single PM. You can only enter your answeres once. Those people who send me more then one PM will be excluded from the contest.
Admins and Mr. Peskapoe are excluded from entering this contest (He helped me come up with the questions)
Be sure to understand that you will need to give me your home adress if you should win (only if you win). The prize will be shipped at my convinience and as cheap as possible so it may be some time before you recieve your prize. BE PATIENT. I will ship to anywere in the world.
This contest will remain open for two weeks from now. We will announce the winner before 28 november 2004.

The Prize itself is a LEGAL rerelease of the Fall Out game. There is no paper manual but an english manual is given on the CD in PDF form.

Now for the Questions:

1] What is the name of the engine used in the "Duke Nukem 3D" game?

2] "The Machines" is a sports/mecha game produced by which game developer?

3] What is the difference between a sprite and a model in a FPS game?

4] Who was the lead designer for "Total Annihilation: Kingdoms"

5] Who played the voice of Jon Irenicus in Bioware's "Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn"

Havell 06-11-2004 11:06 PM

I would enter but I already have the Fallout Collection so it would be pointless.

Milos 06-11-2004 11:19 PM

Why is there a space betwen Fall And Out, is that fallout by interplay or some unknown game.

And by the way very cool of you by making this contest. :ok:

Caged 06-11-2004 11:36 PM

sorry, love my games, but not that much, LOL, hope you find someone who can get them all. Would show a truly dedicated dos game fan

BlackMageJawa 06-11-2004 11:39 PM

Let's see- 2, 4&5 should be really easy to find out, number 3 is fairly straightforward assuming you mean it how I think you do. I just need to find the name of the engine.

Sure, I already have Fallout... but I can't resist a challenge.

Durak 06-11-2004 11:57 PM

I thought 2 was pretty hard, much harder than 1.

Ioncannon 06-11-2004 11:58 PM

1 is SUPER EASY

Ioncannon 06-11-2004 11:59 PM

same with 3 (I use sprites and models in my mods)

Milos 07-11-2004 12:13 AM

5 is easy, who could finish the game(BG2) and not see who gave voice to coolest character in the game. D.W.

All Baldurs Gate ROCKS, and of course all fallouts.

FreeFreddy 07-11-2004 12:16 AM

I know answer to all the questions. Your luck that I'm Admin :sneaky:

Milos 07-11-2004 12:19 AM

Have I done something wrong?

FreeFreddy 07-11-2004 12:20 AM

Could be. But with what? :eeeeeh:

I think he meant that he's not allowed to enter the competition because he's an admin ;)

Milos 07-11-2004 12:23 AM

I dont know, you said "Your luck that I'm Admin" and placed this :sneaky: smiley

Was that pointet to me?

Kon-Tiki 07-11-2004 12:25 AM

Woo! Here's my chance of getting Fallout. Count me in :ok:

I meant that I'm admin and cannot enter the competition. Would I be allowed, I would probably win as I know all the answers. ;)

Milos 07-11-2004 12:34 AM

I see..... nesporazum.....sorry for bothering :D

FreeFreddy 07-11-2004 12:39 AM

Nesporazum? Or Nesurasiza? :sneaky:
Well, ok, back to topic now. ;)

Milos 07-11-2004 12:49 AM

I can't find in dictionary-is that russian for nesporazum(missunderstanding)

Unknown Hero 07-11-2004 12:57 AM

Count me out! :not_ok:
But I will give my best to collect those information in time!
Uh, look the time is running out, better get hurry!

Ioncannon 07-11-2004 01:42 AM

Don't disqualify me Picard. I snet 2 PMs one with my Address, and both were named the same.

Rogue 07-11-2004 04:25 AM

Nice contest, but got two copies of that game. (One original, other came with some other Interplay games on anniversary collections CDs)

Nesporazum is Serbian language, недоразумение would be Russian.

Iron_Scarecrow 07-11-2004 04:33 AM

Is this the game?

Fallout

Eagle of Fire 07-11-2004 05:27 AM

I already have 2 copies of Fallout, entering this contest would be selfish.

Nice contest BTW.

I believe it is. :)

Great game, sequel is even better (more mini missions and you can get married too, even to the man?! :D)

aaberg 07-11-2004 06:39 AM

I will try to answer the questions. I think they are pretty hard though, so I'm probably not gonna win. :Titan:

Endop 07-11-2004 07:55 AM

Wow! I just *had* to register in, just to say that this is cool! Fortunately for me, I found Fallout (1, by Interplay) and Dungeon Keeper 1+Deeper Dungeons addon from a 'used stuff' sale for 6€... :) DK even had the original manuals in very good condition.

Oh, I also found Bard's tale and Neuromancer (in 5 1/4 floppies, in original plastic boxes, with manuals, codewheels etc.) from a used games shop.
:max:

Psyclone 07-11-2004 08:40 AM

number 2 was the hardest... :wall:

The Niles 07-11-2004 08:48 AM

Great to see many are taking an interrest in the contest. Yes the game in question is Fallout and not Fall Out. It was very late when I made this topic.

So far no-one has all five answeres correct yet so keep your entries comming in if you have not done so already.
Please don't send me your adress yet. Only the winner needs to send it to when he/she has been named. ( I just meant to say that you cannot be scittish about giving away your adress if you win).

p.s. You are not excludded from the contest Ioncannon.

FreeFreddy 07-11-2004 08:54 AM

Bah, I know all the answers.
If I only could take on it just to be the winner... :D

Yamcha 07-11-2004 09:06 AM

3 is hard veeeery hard.I think i had somewhere fallout. If the game was commandos maybe??(not adw :not_ok: )

FreeFreddy 07-11-2004 09:08 AM

Don't forget, PM the answers, don't talk about them here. :sneaky:

Milos 07-11-2004 09:40 AM

Milos 07-11-2004 09:55 AM

Thanks for help but I found out that I dont know 3rd question, and after all I have "unofficial" version of both fallouts :D

On this topic many of you people has original fallout, in my poor country we cannot afford original games(we can one at a month),how many games you can buy at one month with average sallary.

Braindead 07-11-2004 09:56 AM

I'm tempted to create a member account just to be able to enter this contest :P

Humph!

Found 4 of 5 answers..

*Carrys On Searching*

Tom Henrik 07-11-2004 11:14 AM

I thought that the prize was agreed to be:

ANY game you want on ANY game engine.

Meaning the winner gave a list of the game he/she really wanted:
For instance:

DOOM III - Windows
Fallout - Windows
Fallout 2 - Windows
Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis - Playstation 2
Shenmue 2 - Dreamcast
...

Then one game would be picked from the list. Bought. Then sent as a Christmas present from Abandonia.

This way the competition would be interesting for everyone. (Even those who already own Fallout). Also the winner would not know exactly which game he/she would get. So that even though he/she won, he/she would still be in a surprise.

Or maybe I just misunderstood the idea in the early development of this competition. :bye:

Danny252 07-11-2004 11:32 AM

I only have an idea about the sprites and model's question, and played TA:K...
too bad I lost the CD..

Well if you're going to send a random game out of 5, they should all be for computer, since we know everyone here has one. Not everyone has a Dreamcast or Playstation 2. What if the person who won didn't have a Dreamcast and you sent them Shenmue 2. It's not a very good prize if they can't do anything with it.

Tom Henrik 07-11-2004 11:40 AM

YOU (the winner) sends a list. IF you have Playstaton 2 and want GTA 3 on that you put it in YOUR list.

If you do NOT have Dreamcast and ask for Shenmue 2 FOR dreamcast, you are an idiot.

However if you have X-Box and ask for Shenmue 2 FOR X-Box, you are a clever man. :max:

Iron_Scarecrow 07-11-2004 12:04 PM

Oh you said GAVE a list.

I thought you said they GOT a list then you send a random game out of that list, which really didn't make sense to me.

Tom Henrik 07-11-2004 01:04 PM

Agree.... Sorry, man. :borg:

Kon-Tiki 07-11-2004 01:13 PM

Darn, and I thought I had all answers right. Did enough research to make sure they were, too. Ah well.

Sean 07-11-2004 03:07 PM

Tom, Got a new laptop?

(Noticed your Admin again)

Havell 07-11-2004 03:25 PM

Tom's only admin for the forum, not the main site, that's why most of the recent updates have been made by Maikel.

Ioncannon 07-11-2004 05:07 PM

I know all the answers muahaha. Here is a little hint for all of you. The guy who amde the duke3d engine is Ken Silverman

FreeFreddy 07-11-2004 05:10 PM

Heh, that's right, but it wouldn't say anything about the engine name. It's good too.

Morrin 08-11-2004 07:30 AM

Some of those are very easy, such as #1 but I have no clue about baldur guestion and I don't think I'll bother to seek.

locutos 08-11-2004 11:17 AM

The Machines is a DOS game or you're talking about micromachines, b'coz I've never heared of a game called "The Machines" except an arcade game but that's not a sport game. Give us a hint PLS :help: :ok:

No hints all the information you need is in the questions. It does not need to be easy.

If you want to enter just press the "PM" button that is in one of my posts. Enter the answers in the window that opens and you have the change of winning the Fallout game.

locutos 09-11-2004 04:21 AM

You said no hints, LOL , great job with the Body Count review

Durak 09-11-2004 01:37 PM

Just wondering when all the entries must be submitted by.

Gimpy783 11-11-2004 02:54 AM

nope... not gonna even try. I can play the games with the best of them but on the technical sides... nothin' doin... Good luck everyone.

-Gimpy783

Iron_Scarecrow 11-11-2004 04:09 AM

Yes when do they have to be submitted by?

BTW Gimpy if you're going to continue posting here you'll need to change your avatar. As far as I know Void still has it as his.

Squalidangel 17-11-2004 06:47 AM

Tom Henrik 17-11-2004 07:04 AM

Fallout is WORTH a lot of searching!

Maybe we give out the sequel in the next competition...

Squalidangel 17-11-2004 07:12 AM

I am too lazy to look, What kind of game is it..?

Tom Henrik 17-11-2004 07:24 AM

The BEST kind!

Squalidangel 17-11-2004 07:59 AM

I just ran into alittle about it in the forums..but I will take your word on it.. :ok:

Durak 17-11-2004 01:11 PM

Hopefully I can get my entry in on Saturday. I probably won't win but I've never played fallout and if it's as good as I hear, it would be worth owning.

Psyclone 17-11-2004 06:14 PM

Just out of interest, has anyone got all the anwsers yet? Not who, just has anyone.

FreeFreddy 17-11-2004 06:37 PM

Well, at least me. But I'm admin, so I didn't use them. ;)

evilded 19-11-2004 06:47 AM

i know all the answer except #2... gimme a hint tom, the rules arent set in stone...

The Niles 19-11-2004 08:39 AM

The Niles 19-11-2004 12:53 PM

You might think you know them but only I actually KNOW them. You have until sunday.

Iron_Scarecrow 19-11-2004 12:56 PM

Sunday!!!!!
Bah I'll never get them done on time. Oh well even if I did win it, which I never would since I never win anything, I still probably wouldn't play it.

Unknown Hero 19-11-2004 05:26 PM

I gave up, because I already have the game, and don't want to go bother searching on the net! But first day (when this "competition" was released) I found few answers!

Fawfulhasfury 19-11-2004 05:28 PM

Don't want Fallout ,so I didn't even try.

Danny252 20-11-2004 09:08 PM

I don't even know what Fallout is about...

wormpaul 20-11-2004 09:37 PM

Fallout is a real classic game:

Genre: RPG

Rorture 21-11-2004 03:47 AM

Fallout 2 is better.

It's got a bigger world, more choices (and hence, more freedom) and more drugs. Nobody can argue that a game with more drugs is nothing but excellent,

FreeFreddy 21-11-2004 07:38 AM

I can argue that drugs, no matter in which form, are an completely unnecessary thing. :sneaky:

Iron_Scarecrow 21-11-2004 07:46 AM

Quote:

What about medicinal drugs. Would you rather put up with a headache all day or take a panadol and make it go away in 20 minutes.

BTW I just noticed this  emoticon has two codes.

FreeFreddy 21-11-2004 07:54 AM

These aren't drugs anymore. Drugs are something that people almost overhelmingly take without sense and misuse that. That would be cigarettes, alcohol, weed, heroin, modern synthetic drugs like Extasy and LSD and similar. Medicinal "drugs" are used in determined purpose, though. ;)

When you wanna play a game with drugs:

Try: POSTAL 2

There you will see what drugs can do to you...and then i dont mean the good things...

Rorture 21-11-2004 12:46 PM

But they make the game fun. It is fun to use drugs in games, because in real life, they are unacceptable by modern society's standards. Postal 2 is a fun game, but I'd never go on a rampage like that in real life.

Anyway, I do think that all this talk about drugs destroying lives is a bit overblown. True, they do have harmful effects, but, so do alot of things. I think that it should be up to the individual to decide whether they should choose to use drugs, because many, when taken in moderation, are no worse than alcohol (a 'socially-accepted' substance). I think that society should allow the individual to have some responsibility and freedom in the choices they make. I don't advocate the use of drugs, but I don't abhor it either.

Although this is getting a bit off-topic. i didn't mean to start a big discussion on drugs, it was just a stupid comment.

evilded 22-11-2004 01:39 AM

Is there going to be a public announcment of the winner and the answers?
