KGB (aka Conspiracy)
Feel free to comment and discuss this game here. Also, if you have any useful tips or tricks don't hesitate to share them with the others! Thanks!
Review and Download (if available) |
Bloody difficult. Maybe it's because I don't play adventure games. I like the concept though.
|
Another classic! :) I remember it to be quite refreshing from the Lucas Arts/Sierra adventures I was used to. Never finished it though, as it used to crash on a certain scene every time... way to play it again! :ok:
|
After I check the butcher store - when I knock on door 6 it says "no answer". WHY?what should I do?Thanx!

In chapter 1, after i get the micro-cassette from the woman, and then report to the boss-guy, what am i supposed to do? any of the answers results in me getting sent to siberia or whatever... :help:

Ops ... It has it on the Abandonia site ... why you didn't bother to look up mate ?
KGB (aka Conspiracy) Walkthrough.zip from Abandonia.com |
Thanks a million Bad Trip! by the way...go register!!
|
thnx m8! but later on the walkthrough doesn't make sense... i do everything im supposed to. after being captured and escaping and beating some ppl up, i still get sent to a freckin' island and it's game over :ranting:
|
Dramo, did you listen to the tape? If I remember correctly, you should listen to the tape and that way get hold of the code name. Then you can answer "Hollywood" when Volvov asks you what the code name was.
|
a big problem: after Chapter three, when it finiches, y jump from the boat, and when it's supposed to pass Chapter four, the game closes and a sign says "File Missing"
what's going on?! thanks Julox.- |
Since nobody answer my question i'll ask again: After I check the butcher store - when I knock on door 6 it says "no answer". WHY? I did just what it tells me to do in the walkthrough! Thanx
|
Leny, are you sure you checked the butcher store properly? You should have seen some dead bodies or something. Try lighting a match or turning on the lights.

Hi everyone,
This is a very important message please read!!! I wanted to play this game for the first time and I noticed an important issue. By the time I wrote this, the version of KGB on abandonia is a BETA version. If you look carefully, when you first play the game in the beginning, in the office in the first text, it is written KGB DEMO VERSION. This is why you have no intro sound&video, and problem of compatibility in dosbox (when I quit the game, the kgb.bat file becomes a 52mb file!!!) and possible solution problems. I found complete version in Home of the Underdogs and BHLegend. Follow link to download: EDIT: LINK REMOVED I only downloaded BHlegend version , probably Underdogs has the same version too. I will send an email to Abandonia admin to upload the correct version. The only bad side of this complete version is you seem to be not able to skip all the introduction text... Maybe if you have a savegame it will not display all again... I hope this helps to a lot of people. Regards, Burzek. |
hat's also why there is no chapter 5 as well.....the game just cuts off after 4. Also....It works fine in Windows 98......just run the .bat!
|
Question:
Okay, I downloaded KGB. IT IS THE BETA VERSION, and it says so at the beginning. However, of the four chapters, the game still cuts off after Chapter 3. Could anyone offer some help on this? It would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! |
There's no way I can knock that Verto guy down at the end of the first chapter. Having tried a zillion times, I downloaded a walkthrough - and it says "hide behind the door and fight Verto". I'm either very stupid (possible), very slow (not likely) or my computer is too fast. But I don't know which. Anyone else had this problem?
|

KGB is just a DAMN GOOD game. I remember playing it on Amiga, several years ago. Difficult and challenging, but giving great feeling and atmosphere. One of the best adventure games around.
|
Friends,
I am at the first chapter, and I did all as per the books as far as I can see. I had flushed the cocain down the drain alright. But what ever I do, or say, Rita does not like me. She says Vetro gives her the cocain she wants. Any answer? - Newman :help: |
Das ist ein geniales Spiel, daran saß ich Monate. Bis ich merkte das es aufgrund eines Programmfehlers nicht weiter ging :D
|
I wound something scary...
With the KGB(This game) files, i found a file named orjakaup.paa (Its finnish and it means: Slavery). Open it with wordpad...... |
Fantastic game, but I had to use a walkthrough to finish the game.
|
It was the linear flatness of the game that bothered me. Had they inputted plenty of variables around a lot of additional events to affect turns of the plot and possible outcomes, I think it could have been great. It would also have taken a lot longer to development, obviously.

Ah, KGB. It's probably one of my favourite games of all time. That mind be weird considering it's faults, but for some reason I can't help but like it. It is difficult and unforgiving, but that made it all the more rewarding for me. Story was incredible, and it's just the feel of the game that was so great.
Any questions people? I've played through this lots of times and would love to help. |
Hello all,
I seam to have a problem at the end of chapter one. After i fight verto, i use the camera on the blue&white papers, but i do not get the "Leningrad, Ladoga Park, Aug 16 @ 3;00 PM." code. Instead, i get 2 coded messeges that contain the odd/even numbered letters of this message. Therefore, i get sent off to siberia. What's there to do? Did i miss something? Thanks! |
Quote:
Also, the code is in the odd/even codes. Write down the first letter in the blue paper, 1st letter in white, 2nd letter in blue, 2nd letter in white, and you get the code eventually (If i remember correctly) |

Hello there.
http://rapidshare.de/files/25056810/KGB_Music.zip.html I ripped the adlib music from the game, so if anyone wants to listen to it you can download it. It's in FLAC and Vorbis -q0. |
A great game, and I might just be being stupid, but...
who actually did kill Golitsin? This is left unexplained! |

OK, I'm probably grave digging but I had to answer that last post otherwise I might've flipped out. Isn't it obvious who is supposed to have killed Golitsin? Christ, the "jealous husband" - it's obvious that's meant to be his secretary's man. Remember the scene where she gets up off the floor next to his desk when you enter the room?
|
I downloaded the game from abandonia. It crashes after the second chapter. Anyone else who has this problem??
|
I think I must have done a misdownload, because it freezes whenever I try to talk to the sister. Any Help?
P.S. Love the music!! |
try disabling sounds in a setup and going through the part with sister. if it works, its appearently in wrong sound card, so if you still want to hear the sounds, try picking different sound card
if it doesnt change anything, try playng with cpu in config and increasing cycles (i guss you are using dosbox..) |

Volvov or Savinkov hire Golitsin for infiltration in the Verto's gang but Golitsin wanna know some more then they wanted him to know... so they killed him and use Max then
piece of cake guys:) PS sorry for bad english |
It looks like a good one. I just downloaded it. Adventure is one of my favorite genres but, sadly, it is hard to find good ones. Even in this day and age of sky high production values, I will go for a well made 2d point and click adventure any time.
|
He after I did everything like in the walkthrough (chapter 1) I went to Department D and my boss said that without the help of the american I wouldn´t had escaped. Then he says that I haven´t any info about the gangsters and then the game ends :(
I did everything just like in the walkthrough but i can´t finish chapter 1 |
I seem to be downloading corrupt versions over and over again.. they always distort Golitsin's sister's face when you click on her to talk to her and then crashes the game at level 3. This time it crashed when speaking to the sister... does anyone know where I could find a clean version of this game?
|
For some reason, there is no sound or music. The review says there should be some. I am running DOSBox. Anyone else have this problem?
|
Check the sound settings in the game's setup.
|
Ah, I see.
But I came to the same problem as asillusionsburst had, with the corrupted face, and then the game freezing up. So I downloaded it from this website, and it works. There are a couple interesting differences, though - the version from there displays the complete credits at the beginning of the game, and there's a weird video intro of a guy using what I think is an old Mac, getting shot - as well as a copy protection question, but either I guessed it right, or what you answer doesn't matter, because I was able to play it. But, comrades, this really is an excellent game! |

I actually always get up to the last chapter and get stuck. It's at the hospital, and I can't say the word "saliva" for some reason as it tells me in the walkthrough
|
Wow, it's been reported several times that this is an incomplete beta version yet it's never been replaced? Tssk tssk, I'll take it upon myself to get the original full version.
|
I have it too....liek the full version, with vids and everything

Awsome game. Really awsome I wish it was longer or there was a sequel. |
Awful game. The dialogs have so many combinations and you never know where you made a mistake. Out of frustration had to download the walkthrough, and after the first chapter I got enough. For me the game is way too complicated to be playable. Now I wonder how many hours did the author of walkthrough spent on the game. Must be weeks...

When he briefs you for the first time, start asking questions and he will answer eveything, no matter how trivial or stupid. However, when you ask about Golitsin, he replies that he left the KGB because he prefers to follow cheating wives to serving the Soviet Union (or something along that line), then loses his nerve and sends you on your way. That way of thinking would justify him giving himself the codename "jealous husband". When he answered, Vovlov knew he said something he should have not, so he tries to dismiss the subject as uninteresting. Besides, the cassette log indicates that he was going to stake out the drop point trying to find who "jealous husband" is. It is reasonable to assume he did, and Vovlov discovered him. |
