That is hilarious!!! Man thats why you never tell anyone your account information over msn. If steam would contact you, it'd be through e-mail.

Oh man, even someone diplomatic as I think I am can't help enjoying watching how an evil intent meets its due punishment. He though he was a h4x0rz, did he.

ROFLMAO. This guy's so dumb it's funny... he got himself conned the way he tried to do it...

troop18546 07-11-2006 11:42 AM

Actually, scammers are the biggest noobs. They try to claim that they're cool by succeding in stealing stuff from some experienced users, but all they prove is one thing - they're too stupid to get the sh1t by themselves (talking about D2...).

Hatham 09-11-2006 05:03 PM

this might be a nice work of fiction, but it's fake.
first of all, a person who would fall for his own unmodified plan wouldn't be qualfifed to push the on button on a PC, let alone have an MSN account. but let's assume it was the adrenaline of the thing that resulted in a lapse of judgement. why, pray tell, would someone try to steal another steam account when he allready has one?! unless offcourse it's an illegal account anyways (or that the person is smart enough to be able to resell his catch), in which case he can just go out and get a new one (in his regualr fashion).

Probably stealing access to the games purchased by the former owner. Remember the way it works? People sometimes action out Steam accounts with a specific purchased game.

moogle 11-11-2006 05:31 AM

LOL, this is EVERYWHERE.

Still funny tho.

Evad 12-11-2006 02:47 AM

"Yeah, I learned owning a PC business that you can intimidate people pretty easily by talking over their heads. You find a certain medium where they'll agree with anything you say just to not appear dumb. It's a sales strategy and an example of social engineering: if you control the flow of information, you're in control of the conversation."

i found this interesting. this is soooo true. this guy has some serious smarts.

About it being fake...it's possible, but you are speculating.

First, the intelligence of the "kid" is irrelevant to whether the story is true. There are hordes of idiots on the internet, and the continued "user-friendly" trend will continue to fill its ranks.
Secondly, It could have been an automatic defence mechanism for this man to marshal a counter offensive. He could obviously tell from the grammar that this "kid" was full of ****, causing him to pounce on the oppertunity. I believe when some people attack, they usually leave an opening, and when people move with precieved initiative, they feel a psycological advantage real or not. If this is broken then the counter offensive can be very advantageous, as this example illustrates.
Lastly, if this did happen, perhaps he did it to teach this person a lesson. Plain and simple. He claims afterwards that he did relinquish control of the account. I would think that it would be a bad idea to hold onto the account anyways, as valve could then trace the man down through it if the boy did complain.

Sure it could be a fake, but I'm willing to accept it's authenticity until proven otherwise.
