Review and Download (if available) |
I think I never played this game before. I played one that is much alike this one and I thought it is called just like this, but you could choos between man (bad guy and I'm preety sure it was Jack) and woman (good "guy", arrests Jack on the begining) and with whomever you play you go same way with different puzzles.
Enybody????? |
Yes the one you played was the second, it is known as Guilty aka Innocent Until Caught 2. Right now I am starting to write a review for it so it can uploaded.

Hi there
I just downloaden IUC from this site and i really love it. But now i,m stuck in the subway and cant get on the metro. On another site read that this is a bug in the game and that you need a pach from Psygnosis for it. But that company doesnt exist anymore and i cant find the patch on the net. Does any of you guys know wer i can get it? :help: |
yeah im having the same problem
|
Firstly - I've read about that bug, too.
Secondly - How come I can't seem to get it to work with digitzed sound. It just won't boot with soundblaster enabled, saying "can't load sound driver". Adlib and Roland work fine, music only that is tho. I'm running Dosbox 0.63 on a Winxp machine. Thanks. |

Anyone? Is the bug still an issue?
|
I can't get on the subway either...thought it was just me.....thought I had to click in a specific spot to get on the train. I didn't realize this was a bug.....
Anyone know how to get on the train?? Thanks |
I take it from the silence that no one's managed to get past that point?

If you turn off the sound completely (set iuc sound to "not present") and run the game without dos box (eg just double clicking on the innocent.exe) you can enter the subway and finish the game. The only drawback is you won't have any sound. You need to right click on innocent.exe and change the compatibility to "run in win95, 256 colors, and 640x480". I've been trying to find a way around this and getting the sound to work, but nothing yet...which is really a shame because this is such a great game. I'll update if I ever get it working 100%.
|
I think I may have found a fix!!! It's a little complex, but it looks like I can play the whole game with sound again. Here's what I did:
To get Innocent Until Caught Working!!! 1. Right click innocent.exe and select "run compatible for win95"; "256 colors"; "run 640x480". 2. Run set_iuc and make sure ADLIB is selected for "soundcard" 3. Be careful with this step. Use it at your own risk, but this step is important because it makes the sound/music work. Edit c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt (open with notepad). NOTE: Back up this file in case you need to revert back! The first section should look like this: REM Install CD ROM extensions lh %SystemRoot%\system32\mscdexnt.exe REM Install network redirector (load before dosx.exe) lh %SystemRoot%\system32\redir REM Install DPMI support lh %SystemRoot%\system32\dosx Add REM statements in front of the three commands, so they look like this: REM Install CD ROM extensions REM lh %SystemRoot%\system32\mscdexnt.exe REM Install network redirector (load before dosx.exe) REM lh %SystemRoot%\system32\redir REM Install DPMI support REM lh %SystemRoot%\system32\dosx 4. Play the game using Doxbox until you need to use the subway. 5. When you reach the station, but can't enter the subway train, save and quit the game. 5. Open the game again, without using dosbox (e.g. double click on innocent.exe) 6. Restore your last game in the subway station (the train that you weren't able to enter using dosbox). 7. Enter the subway train (now you can, only you don't have sound) 8. Exit the train and save the game in the subway station again (for example, instead of Badside, this time the sign says The Hill). 9. Now exit the game, and restart it using dosbox, restore the game when you were at the Hill (or any other section of town) and PRESTO! You should still have sound and should now be able to progress through the rest of the game. Note: Everytime you need to travel on the subway, you need to follow steps 5-9. Sorry, but right now, this is the only way to play the game and still keep sound the entire time (except in the train itself.) Good luck! |
Abandonia copy of the game misses Sound Blaster drivers. Boo.
|
whoohoo!
I got it working! the train-problem is solved! :Brain: Just start DosBox, goto the game folder and execute "INNCRK.COM" This patches the game and the problem is gone! At the copy-prot screen just fill 4 random numbers in and click Enter. Hope that helps. |
i cant catch the fly with the damn jar...
|
just solved my problem
|
This is probably really stupid but... I'm in the police station with the desk sargent, police officer and suspect. I know I need to click on the drugs to get the flour for later but... where are they? I've tried waving the look command everywhere around the police station but I can't see where they are.
|
you just need to talk to the policeman as far as i remember
and at some point tell him you can dispose of it for him then hell put it on the desk |
That's ok, I got it! Just need to hover the cursor over the policeman's words "drug bust". They'll go green, and your cursor will turn into a question mark, and then you just click and voila! flour! Now I have finished the game and I am so very proud of myself. :w00t:
I didn't actually have a problem with the subway. I'm running Windows XP and I don't have DosBox... I just ran innocent.exe and it worked perfectly every time. Hope that helps people. |
Ooooooh, this game is GOOOOD. It's soo refreshing to be playing the bad guy for a change. A bad guy with no sence of moral at all :sneaky: .
*edit* I just picked up a hotdog and Jack says that he can't carry any more! How do I put down the hotdog or leave things behind? |
What do I have to do woht the Inncrk?
I tried to execute it but it says something like "no bytes" I still can't get into the subway... what am I doing wrong? |
I can't play the game! No codes!
|
from what i remember about this game it was far too buggy, one of the most if not the most buggy game ive played..and nohting really special anyway.
|
The screwdriver won't work on the cabinets for me. Any suggestions?
|
Erm what do you type into the keyboard thing?

Today i tried an unoficial Dosbox build and the subway work ok. |
If anyone is still having problems with the subway glitch, I've got an easy way to solve the problem:
- First, start up dosbox and go to the game's directory. - Now, type: inncrk.com - then press enter. - Next, type: crack.com - enter again. - Finally, type: iuc.bat (If it still doesn't work - try innocent.exe instead of the .bat file.) Type your 4 digit random number and the subway problem should be fixed! :D Good luck all! |
HEy can someone help me? how do i get people to talk? my musik and bakground sounds are ok? please help
|
Nobody can help you. This game is not a talkie version and therefore does not include voices.
|
So nobody is able to help at all with the inncrk.com issue? The one where when you run it it says "Bytes not found!" and does absolutely nothing? Where you never see any freaking screen where you enter any sort of 4 digit code? C'mon, folks, there's got to be SOMEONE out there who knows what's going on, cuz I sure don't, and can't get very far in the game at all. And nobody tell me to run innocent.exe - no matter how I try to run the game outside of DOSBox it tells me I don't have enough Base Memory. Well, okay, if someone knows how to get around that, then by all means instruct me in how to get innocent.exe to run, or to get the game to run at all in Windows XP w/o DOSBox. The link to an "unnofficial DOSBox" might have worked once, but not with the latest .70 release available through the link provided, so it must have been a particular build.
Help? Anybody? Bueller? Bueller? :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash: |
just run start.bat

1. Run DOSBox 2. Run start.bat 3. I am now unable to enter any trains on the subway - cannot proceed in the game or complete it. or 1. Run DOSBox 2. Run INNCRK.COM 3. Get a message "No Bytes Found!" 4. Run start.bat 5. I am now (still) unable to enter any trains on the subway - cannot proceed in the game or complete it. or 1. Start a command prompt 2. Run start.bat (or innocent.exe, it doesn't matter) 3. Get a message "Not enough Base Memory." 4. Game will not run This is what I was trying to describe in my earlier post. I cannot run the game outside of DOSBox. I cannot run the game such that I am able to enter trains on the subway, thereby opening up the game for me to play to completion. Note that none of the ways I have ever run or been able to run the game have ever resulted in any screen being displayed where a set of numbers have to be entered - might this be the problem? Does anybody have any suggestions or solutions on how to resolve things? BTW, if this is best worked on offline, let me know the best way to get a contact loop set up (is registering the best way?) and I'll be happy to...well...benefit from someone else's greater knowledge and patient assistance, I guess! Thanks in advance for any time and energies spend reading over this and/or assisting; I greatly appreciate your efforts on my behalf (and on behalf of others who may be experiencing similar issues, although maybe I'm the last in the world...? ^_^ )! |

...
Update: The innocent.ini file in the file on your site has /m+/x+/a+. I have no idea what a is - it's not documented via IUC /?. But...if you remove it, then the game starts with the copy protection screen! So whatever /a+ turns on, you might want to take a look at it and decide if you really want it in the ZIP you provide. Oh - that ZIP also already has 3 saved games at a low rate of progress (1% or so). It looks like at least part of the problem I was having is with the state of the files you make available - it looks like it's already been configured in a way that's not immediately apparent how to undo. (and of course, no sound in DOSBox or WinXP, so I should probably go back and follow the instructions on an earlier post to correct that, and I will). But...I still can't get on the trains using my save games (I haven't tried starting over). Same plea for assistance; same thanks in advance! |

But...if you remove it, then the game starts with the copy protection screen!
So my actual solution was: 1. remove the /a+ from innocent.ini 2. follow the directions in post #14 on this thread 3. pay attention when they say "save in the subway station" in order to jump from DOSBox w/sound to WinXP w/o-but-subway-capable. 4. play the game for another couple of hours. May my experience be instructive and useful to others; if that switch stays in your ini file you'll have issues w/the trains. |
I really want to play this game again, after 8 or so years. But I tried every step on this forum and I'm still unlucky. I don't have a file named "inncrk.com" in my IUC folder, only a "crack.com". How can I play it in a Win XP system? Please, help me.

Crack.com is likely to be the same thing, just renamed.
Oh, and regarding DOSBox: A Beginner's Guide to DOSBox |
The crack.com file won't help me to get on the subway. I remember I had no problems the last time I played IUC (about two years ago) using the same computer. I can't remember if I used dosbox but I sure know I downloaded it from the same source.
I tried most of the tips here without any success. |
there wont even move that dang cursor without dosbox.. no way to enter even the code in the beginning. dirt
|
Then use DOSBox. The game page suggests that you will not be able to play it properly in Windows. Get DOSBox, read the tutorial, and ask if there are any issues still.
|
well my friend you'd have done better reading the posts above, which say, that its impossible entering a train when you play with dosbox, which was my problem i tried to solve..
but actually i did it!! and the only thing i did was, i inceased the speed of dosbox.. to about 6000cpu cycles while it was running.. then clicked on the open subway train doors.. and there you go.. i'm in the train.. crazy well now |
so it was possible to enter the train using dosbox..
|
damn, now that i finally managed to come so far using dosbox i allways get an error message, when narn is supposed to get a crate for me, just when he would go from the towncenter to the spaceport... maybe its because of dosbox? anyway i wont find out cause it wont run without dosbox at all...
does anyone know if theres a patch or something? or does anyone know that problem? frustrating pile of dirt..! |
trouble running game
when trying to run this game in dosbox it says failure to load unable to open "iuc_main.dat" im not sure if im not getting the entire download for some reason or if maybe i was doing something wrong but any assitance would be appreciated
|
Did you try redownloading the archive?

I just started this one, it's nice so far, has good humor witch is pretty important for me in the (cartoonish)adventure games.

THIS IS HOW TO GET SOUNDBLASTER WORKING WITH IUC
I found out how to get SB working. The game depends on the CT-VOICE.DRV for SB access (this .drv is part of the SoundBlaster DOS drivers) It needs the SET SOUND enviroment to be set, so it knows where to look for an load the sb driver. It will always look on the \drv\ subdirectory location no matter what. So how do you enable it: simple. Say you have your SB drivers in C:\SB16 directory. Make there a \DRV\ subdirectory and put there the CT-VOICE.DRV file. Now on the dos prompt type: SET SOUND=C:\SB16 the game will look for the sb16\drv\CT-VOICE.DRV file, load it and use SoundBlaster :OK: |
Quote:
Easyiest way just to put DRV directory in game directory, even had a version that already had that, but also had that bad crack. |
For anyone having troubles with the subway train there are a few solutions..well two.
1. Raise the cycles of Dosbox to a higher amount. Ctrl+F12 will help you there. Or try giving this a read "Dosbox Tutorial" and preset your Dosbox to a higher cycle. 2. Delete your archive, and redownload the updated version from here, make sure you run the crack.com (not iuccrack.com, but it can't hurt from what I have seen.) before you play the game. Remember step one, cycles up folks. Any saves from a bugged train game will not work and I mean any. The train part isn't far into the game so you won't have to replay much and it's better then never playing the game at all. |

Turns out it really is an issue with cycles. I have this habit of starting a game with the default 3000 cycles, and later based on the game's performance increase or decrease them. No wonder it didn't work for me most of the times and it worked for you all the time! Your default number of cycles is 10000, while mine is only 3000. The trick is that instead of regulating the cycles after starting the game (like I did most of the time), we should increase the cycles to at least 6000 before you run the game executable. A simple answer as always... |
Does anyone know the trick to get past the palace guards on the planet Schmul?
I read the book (password akimba) but when I talk to the guards (point and click with the mouth) Jack T. Ladd says: 'hey guys, can I take a picture with you?' or something. |
There is a walkthrough on the game page, if you need help just browse it for the hints you need then don't read anymore.
Also I have the game working with the sound blaster now, got the driver and put it in the game folder and edited the bat to Set Sound=C:\IUC so it will load the files right. Would you guys mind if I update the game on the FTP and edit the review to tell people about it and to mount the game in the correct manner so it works? |
