Tom Henrik 18-12-2006 09:51 PM

We have opened a new forum, The ISO Cellar.

This forum is visible to members with 100+ posts and VIPs, and will consist of nothing but links to CD Images of Abandoned games, or games released as freeware. Thanks go to Gargantuan Orangutang for comming up with the idea.

Please read the forum rules within the forum before using it, and enjoy the new addition to the site. :)

There's not too much content in it right now, but with the help from all of you, we hope to be able to offer one of the internet's best ISO resource for abandonware and freeware.

Have fun! :ok:

Mighty Midget 18-12-2006 10:47 PM

:kosta:
This is getting better and better. A big hand to the Crew and Gargantuan Orangutang.

Lulu_Jane 19-12-2006 06:47 AM

Wow! Deepest and most truly heartfelt thanks and appreciation to you guys for providing this resource :brain:

I agree with our Mightiest Midget - it is getting better and better!

velik_m 19-12-2006 05:50 PM

It might be a good idea to add a list of ISOs, so you don't have to go through all the subforums to see what's in there.

I don't know. Seems unneccessary to me. After all, the subforums make that list in my eyes. The list would have to be sorted alphabetically, and that's exactly what the subforums do. If it's about this speed/loading issue, then that won't last forever, and once AB is back on it's feet, I believe this will work like a charm.

Imagine that you are not searching for a particular game. Will you open every letter in a tab or just look at a list and see what name catches your eye? :)

Imagine a list of 130 games... I think I'll stick to the subforums. A couple of titles makes it easier to linger, and when I finally decide to keep looking, I'll just go to the next subforum :)

chainsoar 20-12-2006 12:30 AM

Great stuff - although I dislike ISOs myself, I still feel this is a great step forward for AB, as there are a lot of people who don't share my feelings on the subject. Good job!

Gargantuan Orangutan 20-12-2006 02:06 PM

You can always use the forum search function to find a something in particular you're looking for.

bobson 20-12-2006 08:10 PM

What when this silt/subforms will grow large?
Will there be a person, who will be checking the lnks?
after some time they can be out-of-date ... what then ??

Luchsen 20-12-2006 08:23 PM

If that would become a problem you could always "employ" someone to look after.

Gargantuan Orangutan 20-12-2006 09:25 PM

If the a link is down I'm sure someone will tell me, or Tom. There are links that DO expire, that's why it's important to keep them active. In the case of Megaupload links, I revisit them every 22 days and manually download a bit of each so they don't dissapear.

If there's ever hundreds of these links, we may have a problem, and will need more "links refreshers" other than myself.

bobson 20-12-2006 09:56 PM

I'm afraid that after some time 2 of you will be not enough to check all of the links
But I'm sure, taht there will be many people glad to help in this work ^_^
Good work guys :ok:
Abandonia grows stronger each day thanks to You

chainsoar 21-12-2006 07:46 AM

chainsoar casts "Here's Some Pie" for +1 post count and Pie given to insanefury.

Tom Henrik 22-12-2006 04:29 PM

Stop spamming, or I will cast "Here's Some Spam" for -50 posts.

win98 07-01-2007 06:27 PM

This is all good news. Abandonia just gets better and better.

thatmexicanguy 08-01-2007 12:45 AM

Thanks guys! This site does indeed keep getting better and better!

haakjay 12-01-2007 11:44 PM

Yes it's getting better indeed. :)

Too bad I can't access :(

win98 14-01-2007 07:19 PM

Keep being a good active member and one day you will make it to the best iso place ever. :Woot AB rules!

JimmyJ 15-01-2007 01:07 AM

Just noticed the iso forum yesterday, very nice :)

GTX2GvO 07-02-2007 01:43 PM

Hard task to get up to post count.

especialy when spamming isn't allowed.

Anyway...

this is post #15

All for the Sub-forum. :tomato:

win98 08-02-2007 02:12 AM

Hope the message got through to Kosta and people like that as I would love to read about it or even be an historian. :ok:

Where you talking about me?

The Fifth Horseman 09-02-2007 06:06 AM

Don't think so. Win98 occasionally sounds like he's out of phase with our current plane of reality.

herrloffel 16-02-2007 11:28 AM

Got the information from the_fifth_horseman that is 20 posts need it to acess the iso cellar. But I just read that is need it 100... whats the real info?

The Fifth Horseman 16-02-2007 11:56 AM

At the beginning it was 100 posts. Later we were informed the restriction was lowered to 20 - see here.

herrloffel 16-02-2007 12:13 PM

ok the_fifth_horseman
I almost got sad with the 100 posts
thx again for the information

gamesgalore 17-02-2007 01:28 PM

Cool idea, if only I hadn't stopped posting...

Taskmaster 19-02-2007 08:03 PM

:bleh: I was sad 'cause I though it was an IQ of 100, in which case I'd never have access... even at 20 I'm pushing it! :w00t:

win98 26-02-2007 01:46 AM

I was talking about GTX2GvO and me and I admit sometimes my head is in the clouds.

Taskmaster 26-02-2007 02:44 PM

 Duh... uhm... I don't get it! Huh, huh... cause I'm a moe-rann!

:ok: :w00t: :bleh:

ado 10-03-2007 04:38 PM

wow, isn't that a great forum? thanks for that.. a lot!

RyuRanX 12-03-2007 05:31 PM

I have some old isos here. Can I share too?

The Fifth Horseman 13-03-2007 11:58 AM

Of course you can. The more the merrier... ^_^

melthas 10-05-2007 09:28 AM

It's really great news :brain:
It was a pain playing great games without sounds and movies. This is certainly a great step for abandonia.
Thanks to everyone who brought and supported this idea.
And I have an another suggestion too. Although 20 posts is quite fair in my opinion, making it even less could help refreshing links. Anyway, great job folks :ok:

sev7en 15-05-2007 09:30 PM

Nice one mates!!! ^_^

Recently I bought some old Italian strategic games and I'll pleased to share them with you. I can give you free space for hosting if needed :ok:

sev7en 23-05-2007 06:55 AM

Mmh I am happy for the VIP and now it means I have to increase my effort to deserve the VIP statup :ok: eh eh don't kill me if I will translate the whole forum into Italian :tai: :P :titan:

Falls 06-08-2007 09:54 PM

Why does it seem like some of the iso's on their forum are too large? And why do you have isos of games already on the site(like Tyrian 2000 :whistling: )? ???

_r.u.s.s. 06-08-2007 09:57 PM

well, isos are large cause its full cds version (with all the music and sounds and animations and other stuff). and the 'duplicated' games are there cause those games on main abandonia download site are ripped, while in iso cellar there are full versions

Falls 06-08-2007 10:17 PM

Ok Ok, makes sense.

strider2 09-08-2007 02:15 AM

Wait a moment, aside from uploading isos/games. Can I upload software?

Luchsen 09-08-2007 03:34 AM

No!? :omg2:

Btw: Games are software.

Depends on the software and on the ...umm... "kind of acquisition" it needs to get it.
If it's freeware...

strider2 09-08-2007 10:48 AM

Sorry to misinterpret. I meant software that one could use for purposes OTHER than gaming.

Wouldn't be very sensible on an abandonware-gaming-site.

Cold 09-08-2007 08:24 PM

I'm lucky I saw it for the first time yesterday. It's good idea, something like a jewel for rarely underrated games that deserve another chance :)

If I may suggest (just my idea, nothing more nothing less), I think you should use b.t. (acronym, yes, I mean what I mean) because some links has gone dead (unfortunately it's the worst thing when files are uploaded on web, while in the mean that I mean it should be lasting longer  )

Luchsen 09-08-2007 11:06 PM

We should have a volunteer with a large HD downloading all ISOs, checking which are dead and reviving that ones. :tomato:

The only feasible situation in which we would would be when Abandonia would have its own dedicated torrent tracker.
About all of currently existing trackers also deal with warez, and we don't want that here.

strider2 12-08-2007 04:51 PM

It's all right to use 4share right? I mean it's rather simple and re-uploading isn't much of an issue.

The Fifth Horseman 13-08-2007 06:26 AM

Sure.

airsoftsnake 13-08-2007 12:47 PM

You could let us low posters take a look at the forum without allowing us anything else no?

Actually, you do have the list in a nother forum, so I should probably just look there...

/me kicks self for obvious solution

The Fifth Horseman 13-08-2007 01:01 PM

That list only has games that were approved for addition. Not all of them are in the ISO Cellar, and there are many others in the Cellar not listed there.

The Fifth Horseman 29-11-2007 10:27 AM

Due to the number of prior incidents with people spamming to get to the Cellar, it now requires a week of forum membership in addition to the aforementioned 20 posts.

radivx 29-11-2007 05:33 PM

hmm... guess I'll have to become a more active user of the forum =)

The Fifth Horseman 30-11-2007 06:04 AM

Or recover the password to your original account, Radiv.
You've got over 60 posts to your name on that one.

Zainlong 05-01-2009 03:37 PM

A fantastic idea, one of the best on any site i've visted.

cjk1995 28-04-2009 02:47 PM

with 100+ posts ? God bless me ...

The Fifth Horseman 28-04-2009 03:35 PM

Nope, that was a long time ago.
We changed the limit to a much lower one.
But please don't spam to get there. Or your postcount will be reduced to -50.

Yeah, 20's not bad. Something to work toward and good incentive to start a conversation.

Ranthalion75 19-06-2009 12:09 AM

Okay, I think I've passed the post goal, but I can't seem to find the ISO Forum anywhere. Is it hidden, or am I blind/stupid?

Duh, NM. My week probably isn't up yet.
