Thanx :Tom: for finally putting the game on the site!!!
This year is the 20th aneversery of Ghostbusters and the 15th aneversery of Ghostbusters II - so this game is really a treat for all fans (that's why I wanted you all to try it). Hope you'll have fun!!! |
A ghostbusters game........LOL
:sniper: |
What about the first one??? that was funny
|
Great game, but I only know of the C64 version. It's easy enough to get on most C64 sites like this one.
|
:ot:
Is this C64 thing an emulater or something. i wanna play the first one, it looks good |
Hello, great site and maybe a nice game.
But I don't know how to play it. There's no manual. Could someone explain which keys or what I have to use ? THANKS Torsten |
We had some problems with the extras.
I've suplied the links to hints - hope it helps! Here's the TXT file (sorry this one has no pictuers... |
Thanks for the manual.
Anyway, have someone ever won this game? I even never hit ONE of the ghosts because they are much too fast for me. Is there a trick to slow them down ? Torsten ps: sorry for my english, i hope you understand it |
Well if you play in DOSBox (DOS emulator) you can slow the game down - otherwise you can use some other slowing down tools (like mo-slow...). This makes the game much easier (and more playable). The game was made for a processor much weaker that those computers use today.
But yes - it's possible to catch ghosts even without slowing the game down. P.S. Your use of English is very good. You don't have to apologize. |
when ever i catch the dog at the park it says i've run out of money. I follewed the istuctinons you guys put with it (thanks) but it still says i need a differnt disc :help:
|
anyway you can turn off the **** PC speaker?
|
Does anyone know which way to go with the statue of liberty???
|
Had this game a looong time ago, on my Tandy 1000 TX. Came on 4 Floppy disks.
Hated swapping floppies just to play this game. the Sampled Vigo Voice is pretty nifty, coming out of a Tandy. heh. The Tandy was an 8 Mhz 80286, 640KB RAM, No Hard disk (!), and a single 720KB floppy. don't miss that thing much. :not_ok: And then, predictably, the d_mn floppies starting going south. wouldn't load anymore. Tandy also had Deskmate 3 on it (or, on the stack of 5 disks that were needed to run it) You should put Deskmate 3 up on the site. |
What the ..?! Judging by the screenshots this game seems to be based upon the movie, and nothing like the first game, which totally rocked.
.. but I'll try this one anyways. :D |
The first one where you had to keep the key-master away from the gate-keeper?
(Just know the german names. Hope you undestand what I mean...) |
Well, in this case it's not really a sequel. This game isn't the follow up on the first game. It's a self-standing game based on a movie.
The fact that the first movie inspired a great game and that the second movie was also made into a game still doesn't make this game the sequel tot he first game (the concepts are very different). Still, there were two games based on the 2nd part of the movie and the games did differ a lot. This game presented on our site (unfortunately we're not allowed to host it) is concerned with money (so it's in a way connected to the first game) and it doesn't follow the movie plot line all that closely. The other game was worse (the other Ghostbusters II game). It just followed some scenes of the movie and the game was built entirely on that. BTW - I'd really love to get my hands on the PC-Booter Ghostbusters game (the first one from 1984), but can't get it. I know a C64 or Atari versions are better (have them already), but I'd really love the PC-Booter one as well. |
can anyone tell me how i can dowload this game...
i can't download it... says something about ESA... whatever this is... EDIT: If there were many words there (and I sure there were) then you should probably have taken the time to read it. Then you'd also know what ESA is and why this game can NOT be downloaded. (i visited the page but i think this is just crap)... so can me somebody plz tell how i can download it here? thx! |
If you took the trouble (maybe 15 seconds of your time is too precious, how do I know?) to READ that message that pops up, it would inform you that you CAN'T download it here.
|
Okay, I have a copy of the game on my HDD, but it hangs whenever the disk switching comes up. How do i solve this problem?
|
What system are you running it on? Have you any emulators or anything like it?
|
I'm running it on winxp in dosbox
|
OK, you have the whole game on disks... I'm guessing that you may have a corupt ID file or something like that, so it doesn't recognise the files that should be on the other disk.
Older games had this sort of protection, that you could only run them from a certain drive (a: or b:), so they would think they're still on the original disk. You can try mounting the directory with the game as B: or you could even try to copy the files to a diskette (but you'd have to sort them correctly - which are on disk 1 and which on disk 2). As I personally haven't encountered this problem I just can't be sure, behind here are different possibileties. You could also be missing one of the files (that it simply isn't there). Maybe you just need a crack for the game (although I'm not sure where you could get it). Hope any of this helps. |
Well, when i tried running it out of dosbox when i first found it it wouldn't go past the disk change after the courtroom sequence, so i assumed that was the problem, but in dosbox it actually locks up after the court room sequence.
|
Then I'd say you got bad files. I'm assuming you didn't buy the original games (so you'd have the disks). That's one of the reasons why getting pirated stuff doesn't pay off - sorry. The best advice I can give you is to get a different file (or maybe ask some of the guys on the ghostbusters.net to help you - some are real computer wizzes and maybe one of them knows how to fix your problem).
|
Hey guys, just thought I'd point you to an old site I used to maintain, the Ghostbusters Fan Forum Arcade. I've got a page outlining the game pretty completely, though I meant to scan in the map for the Liberty level and never did (otherwise you'll never know where to go). Anyways, check it out, and if you look at the other pages of other GB games, remember, this site is *old*! I didn't know anything about design whenI made it. i'm planning on remaking the whole thing this summer though, so hopefully the Arcade will look better soon.
GB2 for PC GBFF Arcade's main page Oh, and the email link on these pages is no longer active! So if anyone has questions about the other games on the site, message me here! |
Hi would u be able to make a map to the museum? I've had this game since it came out and never made it!!! instructions on how to get there would be great thanks!!!!!!!!
|
Okay, found my instruction manual and scanned in the map! Remember, you're not always facing North when you start. Putting your feet together at an intersection should give you a screen showing the street signs (like when the level first started) and allow you to turn down streets.

every time i try to answer the phone, i ehar the "GHOSTBUSTERS!!" catch phrase, and then the game appears to freeze. How do I solve this??? Has anybody else experienced this problem??
|
Which version of DOSBox are you using?
|
The correct question is... are you using DosBox at all?
|
Is there any way of getting the mouse to work with this game? It seems to only let me play using the keyboard, and I find it rather difficult to capture ghosts with the keyboard due to the speed ghosts move at...
|
Who Ye gonna Call............? Eh, well someone who can help I hope.
Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, I am having trouble running this game, (and I REALLY want to play it as I am a HUGE fan of Ghostbusters and was VERY disappointed with the Commodore 64 version of the game). I run games through D-Fend v2. I download the game but when I go through the Profile Editior there I can't install the game as there is no Setup Exe file in the folder. Could someone please please tell me is there something else I can use instead of the Setup Exe there so I can install and run the game? I really wanna get this working because, Bustin' Makes Me Feel Good Thank you very very much, have a good time. |
I suggest you run the game without D-Fend.
|
I've never tried to do this sort of thing before, but I noticed somone wanted to use their mouse and well, I know a way that worked for me. Sooooo...
Assuming you're using Dosbox and you've already mounted the folder that GB is in: What you want to do is simply type install.bat and press enter when the setup screen appears press F3(change input device), press F3 again(mouse), press F4(finish) and finally press F1(save config file). Then, back at the command prompt, type GB2 and enjoy the newfound use of pointing devices. :-) Oh shoot, that post was from like a year ago. Man am I dumb ha ha. |
Is it just my DOSBox settings, or do the ghosts move faster when playing with the keyboard than with the mouse?
|
dear all,
i tried to play this game using dosbox 0.65 and dfend 2, but with no luck, always freeze after the action on court room, anybody can help to fix this up? fyi I using all the default function on dfend. thanks & regards, pangestu |
0.65 is an outdated version of DosBox and D-Fend is known to cause random crashes in games that work fine on plain DosBox.
So, use DosBox 0.70 and don't use D-Fend. |
No, I don't believe the ghosts move faster when using the keyboard. It just appears that way because you can't move the pointer as quickly as you can with the mouse.

Memsize, for starters.
with a game this old, 63 MB RAM is an overkill - not to mention that this value was not possible for any configuration of RAM chips in any x86 machine. Consider dropping it to 8. |
Alright, cheers. I'll mess around with it and hope for the best.
*EDIT* No luck, even when changing core to normal, and memsize to 2. I'll post y full config file, but would it have anything to do with the xms/ems/umb settings? but the first ghost is easy to get back in cause it has low hp, so if you take care of him right when he gets out, you can shot in to the second one again.
but yeah.. its difficult |

Perhaps you guys can help me! I seem to be having similar trouble to the folks whose game freezes after the court room scene, only mine freezes right after teh picture of vigo in the beginning, right after he says "I am Vigo, the scourge of Carpathia." And then that's it. It freezes. I have never adjusted any of my settings in dos box (I'm running version .7, and I don't even know my settings  ). I set up dos box just like the tutorial on abandonia says, and I really want to play this game!! I love ghostbusters! If you can help, please do!
|
The cause of both problems is exactly identical: the unpatched version of the game will crash every time it tries to play digitized sound.
All you need to do to fix it is run GB2FIX.EXE and the problem will be gone once and for all. |

Hey guys. I recently 'downloaded' this game on a very powerfull Windows XP computer and I need your help. I extracted the files and clicked on the .exe. the logo pops up, then a picture of venky with thought bubble saying "I think a new disk is needed, maybe disk 2 will work". Is there anyway you can take this game off your hardrive and put it onto 5 floppy disks? And if I installed DosBox onto the powerfull XP comp, would the whole interface change and I would never get the windows screen back? If you could help, I would appreciate it, 'cause I too am a Ghostbusters fan. =) |
no, dosbox would be fine.. it is just program so it will go back to 'your o powerful pc' right after you close it

A Beginner's Guide to DOSBox should help you in setting up DOSBox to run on your machine. If you have any specific problems, feel free to ask. |
Ahh thanks guys. I'll-a check out the DosBox guide. And thanks for replying/helping. :kosta: |
I don't think anyone has never beat that game. I tried almost thousand times to bring Liberty Statue to the museum and always Statue slows because of heavy traffic and ran out of time.
If anyone really does it, please post a pic of what is above this level, or simply please make me now how it was possible to bring statue to museum (hint, cheat, ect.) without going out of gas |
I got this game when it first came out (I'm 24 now). I have gotten to Vigo a few times when I played years ago. If I remember right, you first have to zap Vigo enough to get him back in the painting. After he is back in the painting you have to hit him some more, but this time the art gallery guy (I can't remember his name but he is the guy Vigo posses in the movie) is running around and if you hit him too many times you loose. When I did get to the museum it was more pure luck that I started on 45th St and didn't have to turn.
I have gotten guys out of Parkview, but it is a lot easier to dodge the guys who try to catch you when using a joystick or the keyboard. I also remember the ghosts being a lot slower, but I'm guessing this is because our computers are about 1000x faster then they were. |
If you're playing in DOSBox, you can regulate the speed using CTRL+F11 and CTRL+F12.
|
Help! i'm using dosbox 0.72 on my laptop with windows XP and it won't work! It freezes after capturing those two ghost bros in the court.
Also, if you use mouse, the ghosts will slow down and the game will have different opening intro. Strange . P.S.: Sorry, found out. You need to extract everything into one folder and open GB2Fix.exe file |
