Wow, I'm surprised the legendary Double Dragon got a 2 on a site that usually scores games very high! :eeeeeh:
The games are rated by the reviewer.
Wormpaul gave the game 2 points. The_Void and I gave the game 4 points. |
wow 2 and a four are huge differences
another arcade game that you can play authentic in MAME.
enough with the DOS ports of arcade games!! theyre always inferior.. i want games you could only get on the P.C!!!! |
What should this mean?
You want to see games that you can play in Windows? BTW almost every old game is Dos game. Take it or leave it! You can get many games on PC by using DosBox which you can download here! Here you can also download many other usefull programs. Enjoy your playing! :bye: |
i know what he means, MAME is an arcade emulator (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) and its true that DD was an arcade game at first. he means that there should be less arcade conversions
I would say that arcade conversion should look at least close to original games... This game looks like it's on C64.
what about DD3 that i made

And you can read in the review why i gaved it a 2!! Maybe it's too low in your opinion but that's why we got the other rating also on the site...i'm just a critic person.. But the next 3 games that i will upload (reviews almost done) will all get a 5 rating!!!...those are just brillant games  |

Anyway, DD was one of the first side-scrolling beat'em up game. After that there were many plagiaries. There was a way of easy beating on arcade. You turn your back to enemy and hit him with elbow. Enemy falls over you. Then you turn back to him again and wait for him to stand up and use your elbow again. Elbow hit was combination of two buttons. Still I doub that it is possible on PC version.
You can hit people with your ellebow..
Very useful in the game :ok: |
I remember playing this game and getting so frustrated trying to jump over gaps. I could never do it!!! time to give it another shot
I used to play this game with my cousin on the Sega Master System, and I remember a cheat that you can have unlimited continues. I don't know how but each time our character died, the continues were up to 9 and they never dropped down. It was on the last part and on the start of the level, my cousin jumped on the very corner of the wall on the left. We used to beat the last Boss with that, it was one of few SMS games with and ending. Really cool back in the day. Thanks for remembering this game
Is it possible to change the controls for player 1?
This game is enjoyable in single mode, but the best was to play with a partner. I used to play it with my cousin till the end, and then fighting each other for the girl. That last fight was the best in the game, though it could lead to some anger between me and my cousin.
I still have this on the NES. Brilliance. I've always preferred the double dragon series to Streets of Rage/final fight. Maybe because my alligances when I was younger was always with nintendo

This game shaped my life! I totally loved it!! Played it for hours and hours with my bro...
I'm well upset it only got a 2!! Please change it!! Someone just pointed out to me that I should play it again 'cos maybe it aint so good. I think I'll stick with the memory that my first game was awesome!!! Great site BTW but shame about the pointing system... :titan: |

You can download it here. You might want to check out the official DosBox FAQ, and particularly this part of it. It is quite helpful for users unfamiliar with DosBox. |
When I was a student I had this game as an original arcade cabinet. I even had to put money in it to be able to play. Added some wires and a button to deal with that problem.
I've been playing this game for hours and hours with my college friends. This was in 1990 or so. When I was graduated and moved to another place I left the cabinet for others to play with. That is one of the few things I regret in my life! I should have tahe it with me :-( :-( :-( |
GOG has the arcade games as a set, for Windows
