I have a huge problem. I just reinstalled XP, and after a restart it said "Missing NTLDR" and won't boot. Okay, booting from XP CD, repair console, FIXBOOT. Then it works. But after restart there is "Missing NTLDR" again.

I don't want to do this every time I turn on my computer! Can anyone help me with this?

This is some boot data for the harddisk. We've had that with our old, old server, but I don't remember the solution... :wallbash:
I think it was the repair mode when you boot from the the WIN-CD, but I ain't sure...

Enter the repair console and run CHKDSK.

BOOTCFG /rebuild writes new boot everything, not only copies missing files. if that fails, i have heard that some antiviruses delete ntldr file, so if i were desperate i would just restrict ntldr file delete rights rights (c:\ntldr)

Then just remove the USB stick before starting or change the startup order in that case.

thanks for the ideas guys. Turns out, all the odd things, BSODS and crashes I was having, was one of my RAM modules dying. This morning my system died. First there was a BSOD during XP loading, then restart. It started up, showed me the BIOS splash screen then nothing... it won't even enter the BIOS. Then I went on troubleshooting. Took out one of the RAM modules, turned the comp on again, and violá. It was working like a charm...

So I need to buy a new RAM module.... whats left, 512 DDRII is just not enough...

512 is sufficient for XP, been there done that.
Now, for games that might be another thing altogether, but most should run decently on 512 (perhaps with exception of the newest titles)

Cause I don't have the cash to buy additional SDRAM modules. <_<
(preferably 128MB modules, but some 256MB modules are supported as well. I have an ASUS P3B-F ^_^ )

i mean, why not 98? xp must be seriously slow on your machine right now

I WANTED to upgrade my PC
Already HAD the install disk.
And the RAM CAN wait.

All I need now is some patience. :yawn:

And besides the RAM I need a CPU upgrade.
I have a Slot1 550MHz Pentium3 Processor. Up to 1GHz is supported.
(although 1,4GHz Tualatin P3's could work with the right tweaks)

btw. the SP2 of WinXP gives me THE right ability to configure the WiFi Network properly. :whistling:
(and the fact I know squat of configuring networks in deferent fashions then native XP SP2. :wallbash: )
